Without zaha we would have been relegated a long time ago, take him out our squad now and it's a poor Premier league team. It may only be pre-season , but it’s clear take him out and we still struggle to make an impact. I have been one that had run out of patience with him, but he does appear to be knuckling down, which is good because nobody in our squad can compare with him when he is up for it.

For me it's not about whether he is "top class" or not. His commitment to Palace has been outstanding. If he stays, brilliant, if he goes to a "bigger" club, then good luck and thank you... He is our Harry Kane and I hope one day, he will be our Matt Le Tissier...

The guy who has not performed and whenever he went up against the big boys he did nothing. To claim he is the reason Palace stayed in the league is disrespectful to the club and the other players. I expect all you people that are defending him are the same ones that said Benteke was useless. I am not saying Wilf is an awful player he is not but he is a mid table Prem player who has not advanced his game over the past few years this is what the top players do he should be in his peak but still has an attitude problem its clear to see on the pitch with him losing his temper and sitting on the floor moaning at ref. His game craft is not that great either Palace have looked after him to much.

There is truth on all sides of this argument but the stats speak for themselves. In February (the latest I could find) we had lost 18 of the 20 previous games without Wilf, failing to score in 16 of those. For me, I am looking forward to Wilf in a team that plays on the front foot, it would be great to see him operating at pace again and hopefully happy. Under Hodgson he seemed to be used as an outlet and often received the ball tracking back or static. If he goes I will truly miss him, I watch football because of players like him. Not saying I don't appreciate all the other aspects but its the players like Wilf that really ice the cake for me. The stadium rises when Wilf gets the ball and attacks, when he beats players like they aren't there, hopefully Viera can get that Wilf back.

I wonder how much of that was down to the lack of quality in the squad down to under investment on the basis that Wilf score enough to keep us up. I think that once we've finished in this transfer window and all the new boys are fit we will have a much stronger squad which is more likely to be able to cope without him. After all we will have to in January during AFCON
