This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Liverpool Echo: Everton not interested in Zaha. Back to Arsenal trying to take the p1ss again then. That Everton rubbish was either the press or Wilf’s ‘team’. We either get a decent price or he stays. I’m losing care now, but with our recruitment team and 2 weeks to go I don’t fancy our chances. There’s another article we’re about to shut the door on Arsenal anyway so that’ll take care of being left with almost no time when they up their bid by £3 mil.

Wilf doesn't have the answers though. He could say he's going nowhere and then a £100m bid comes in, with an attractive contract offer and he's gone. Similarly, he can't come out and say he wants to go to Arsenal for example, they bid a pittance and it doesn't happen. He'd be under scrutiny for the rest of this season. We just have to let this play out and trust the judgment of Parish, unfortunately. I don't expect him to come out making statements like that, but him or the club coming out and saying that contrary to reports, Wilf has not asked for a move and that until a club comes in with an offer that is acceptable to all parties, Wilf is committed to the club, would be enough for me. You just want some reassurance that if he stays, he won't cause any issues. The complete radio silence is unintentionally adding weight to the stories in the media. Personally, I think given the service he's given the club, we should be giving him the benefit of the doubt and trusting that all the time he is at the club, he will always give 100%. That's all you can really ask of anyone.

If I was Zaha I might be a little disappointed with any suggestion that, after all he's done for Palace and the manner in which he does it, he might need to confirm his commitment and professionalism.

As disrespectful as the initial 40m bid, only club yet to have bought any new players & now the PL's scrap dealers

Parish won’t give these derisory, liberty taking attempts more than a no.

Did you go to the school of the spineless? I'd tell him to get back to work or have his pay suspended. HE HAS FOUR YEARS ON HIS CONTRACT. I say old fruit... I'm not a fan of selling for a penny less than £125 million. And if he wants to rot, he can rot. But nice to see you're keeping up your proud statistics for petty name calling.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Jenkinson might be a viable option now Clyne is out of the recruitment picture. I hope not - but definitely not Mustafi, he can’t imagine there will be any takers for him in the EPL. An Arsenal supporting friend asked am I putting Zaha in my fantasy team’ I couldn’t answer. It’s a conundrum! The whole affair over the summer is just a distraction.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle If Arsenal want Wilf that badly then they obviously see him as a much better player than the two youngsters that are coming through. Therefore there is no reason why we shouldn’t take Reiss Nelson on a permanent transfer as a direct replacement and say £45m. I would be happy with that and it places a value of circa £35m on Nelson which is a tidy sum for a youngster who would then get to play as first choice week in week out, which he isn’t going to get at Arsenal for perhaps another two years.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

In the real world, a contract is a contract. If we sell Zaha we will be relegated. I know that certain among us think that caving into player demands is a matter of course when a loss of money is involved, but really, that only happens when you have a gutless chairman or a player who is in the last two years of his contract. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (24 Jul 2019 2.11pm) Says who? I don't buy into that. Zaha is our best player, sure. And I think he gives us that edge that pushes us up into the top half of the table. But personally I think there's plenty in our arsenal (ha) without Wilf. Let's not forget that in Tonks, Mama, Dann, Luka, Jimmy Mac, Townsend, Benteke etc....we have some good quality prem players. Plenty good enough to finish 4th from bottom at least. I don's subscribe to this notion we're dead cert relegation fodder if he goes. (Although are obviously much weaker.)
