I wonder if Roy might throw him on from the start as a two-finger salute to Bentenke's apathetic display against West Ham. It feels like the player and manager have quickly established a bond and I wouldn't be surprised at all to seem quickly win a starting role, even if he doesn't start today.

I absolutely agree. Would love to see Bats, Mateta, Eze and Zaha in a sort of 4231. We’d probably need a couple of CM’s with the work rate of a 26 year old Claude Makelele for it to work and a really solid defence with pace, power and presence across all 4 positions. Your on my page Helmet. And ironically I grew up in Caterham!!

I also felt it suited PVH and Clyne - giving them the freedom and allowing them to utilise their pace to recover if required but also apply pressure to their full backs - keeping them pegged back.

Sensational goal last night! So audacious to even try it. What a brilliant way to open your scoring account at your new club.
The right place at the right time |

Like him a lot... think he’ll prove a great buy.. particularly if he gets the right service... also think he’ll score more goals once Wilf is back....

He doesn't appear that adept at retaining possession with his back to goal when he is under pressure from a defender. His hold-up play hasn't been that impressive but he did score an audacious goal to opening his scoring for the club and he has scored a few goals for Mainz, a team in the bottom half of the Bundesliga.

Most players from abroad need time to settle in the PL which is certainly the toughest top league in Europe (and perhaps the best - I'm happy for people to argue the latter point). Give the lad time both to transition to this league and to gel with the other members of the squad. Early days BUT a quality piece of goal poaching last night. Let's hope he'll make it with us.
