It all depends what £500 means to you? I'm a massive saver... I try and save a minimum of 2k a month, so I would save it... I use my money to buy property or make over payments on properties I own... I am a great believer in paying down debt... I cleared my first mortgage in my late 30's ... It can be done. My 1 bit of advice I would give people... Over pay on your mortgage, it saves you loads of £ and with lending criteria being tightened, banks have a smaller market to fight over... A good payment history helped me secure a bespoke mortgage deal recently.

I work through my own limited company and any extra that I take out is taxed at 40% so I need to make more than that to make it worthwhile

I guess I like the idea of making and having a bit of money but when I get it I don't know what to do with it .
