I wonder if it's just a case of the Spanish journalist not doing their homework and therefore not realising he has a pre-contract with Palace and not just an unwritten agreement.

Clubs that consider signing a player who has signed a pre-contract with another club should also tread carefully, as the club and the player would be jointly and severally liable for any compensation payable if the player is found to have breached the pre-contract without just cause (Article 17(2) of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players 2012). Sporting sanctions can also be imposed on the club for inducing the player to breach the pre-contract as there is a presumption, unless established to the contrary, “that any club signing a professional who has terminated his contract without just cause has induced that professional to commit a breach” (Article 17(4) of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players).

That's very interesting. Sounds like Atletico ought to be done for tapping up in that case.

bless you.

I don't agree that Hennesey is "s***e" or that we're doomed to lose if we play him - see last Saturday for example - but I don't think it's in dispute that we ought to be able to get an upgrade and that there are better keepers in our reach. I would be surprised if Pope were within our reach but if he went back to being second choice he might be tempted with a number one spot and more dosh I suppose.

Pope has performed with great distinction and it might well be Heaton who will be No 2 at Burnley in which case he might wish to leave the club.

Pope cost just £1.1 Mill. When one thinks that Tarkowski only cost £3 Mill they represent some excellent work by Burnley in the Transfer Market.

Dominic Fifield tweeting that there is nothing in this story and he will still join.

I am excited by this signing and hope it does go through having seen some of his performances this season. I'm glad Wayne has managed to show some form lately as he seems like a nice guy and he has taken some stick, but being cynical he is out of contract in the summer so probably knows he has to perform now or risk tumbling down the leagues.

I hope he does come.

Keep Wayne as number 2 and a youngster as 3rd choice.

Yes, can we hire Burnely's transfer maestro please
