I'm happy but there's a lot of papering over the cracks.

No need for five days play anymore. Modern cricketers don't have the patience or attention span for a long innings.

Interesting to see how Ben Stokes will be replaced for the next match at Lords. Moeen Ali will probably replace Rashid to beef up the batting and perhaps Sam Curran has proved himself enough as an all rounder to allow us to bring in a bowler. As a side line I like the changes made to the Sky commentary team as Ian Ward is worthy of his place as is Kumar Sangakarra who offers excellent insights into the game but I will continue to watch Sky's coverage as long as Sky continue to use the very lovely Isa Guha as part of their commentary team.

Moeen Ali is not a test bowler. He is a one day and twenty twenty player......We have wasted time proving what was known about him at the very start. Bess is the future and needs to be backed.....Unless someone better emerges. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Aug 2018 1.48pm)

We need to allow for players with patience to emerge. Hameed at Lancs will come again and he's a Boycott type figure. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Aug 2018 1.51pm)

Five days allows at least one day to be lost to the weather as often happens

If recent pitches at Lords are anything to go by, don't expect a five day game there either.

I was forced to look up Isa Guha in the interests of fair research before commenting. God, she’s gorgeous! Edited by YT (04 Aug 2018 3.17pm)

England’s win over India in first Test will ‘close some mouths,’ says Ben Stokes. It won't close yours though, will it Ben.
