Yannick, I'd ask you to think about what you are saying here.

I think it starts way before they even take their coaching badges..

Yet you do appreciate that without taking the badges a black player can't hope to move into coaching? From personal experience, I took the uefa A licence in a class with Chris Powell, Alex Dyer, Sunday Oliseh and Eddie Newton. Each of them went on to get employment opportunities quite quickly afterwards. Does this prove that racism plays no part in the employment process? No, you'd need the data around number of black applicants to be overlooked in favour of white candidates of similar status for that, but my personal experience is as above, so if you want me to agree with you then you need to overcome not only your lack of facts but also my personal experience.

how much more likely is a black player to be labelled as a troublemaker with a bad attitude during their 12 odd years in the premier league compared to someone like Gaza or vinnie Jones who are more looked upon as loveable rogues compare the media reviews to people like balotelli Raheem Sterling or even Micah Richards who never really malicious at all but we’re just given the black sheep label...

It doesn't seem that a black player is even remotely more likely to get s*** treatment from the media than a white one. You mention Gazza - do you not remember the pre euro 96 headline 'Look at gazza, he's a drunken oaf with no pride'? Perhaps you missed the derision heaped on the likes of Bendtner, or Joey Barton, both of whom were 'troublemaker' labelled.

then imagine the guys who managed then throughout their careers being white English or European guys with combovers or working class Englishmen who’d be welcome in a typical east end boozer in the 80s and nineties easily blend in to society...

Then put them all in one category based largely on their race and tell yourself you don't need to distinguish between them, like you have? Maybe you should try assessing each of those white people on their individual merits. Perhaps Vieira actually took inspiration from the likes of Wenger? Perhaps what you seek to respect in a manager should be their character?

then imagine why the black players feel they’d have 90% less chance of being successful as they had already been outcasted or scapegoated as a player

Like? For instance?

then to risk taking coaching badges and being the fall guy of a whole football club as the manager must be a pretty daunting prospect..

Yes, it is. That's the job.

I don’t let people like you affect me anymore I’ve been baited and dismissed since I was a young boy by people who’d assume I’m not as articulate or capable of rational thought as somebody from a more middle ground demographic

People like me? So you know what kind of person I am from a two line post asking you to justify an allegation based on a series of negative presumptions and stereotypes, and you respond by labelling me with negative presumptions and stereotypes.

I'm all for hearing peoples personal experiences, and for letting them inform me, but even if you've had very difficult experiences in your life you should expect to be asked to justify what you say if you accuse an entire industry of racism.

Cor blimey you are one of them guys who’d argue that a circle wasn’t round unless I had the exact measurement of the circumference and multiplied it by pi in front of you...give it a rest son you just look desperate for a row. I just gave an opinion. Grow up.

I think it would be great if Sol bought a club and did it his way. It seems a bit harsh to blame owners who have millions and billions for not backing him if he doesn't back himself. He's young, loaded and could invest in himself if he wants to.

Isn’t opinion what the owners of football clubs use when appointing a new manager?

Not sure if that was supposed to be some sort of profoundly ironic rhetoric or what but it wasn’t a groundbreaking or clever statement at all and to be honest not really factually correct as there are many factors that are of far greater importance than just their opinion when choosing a manger..cor there are some really sad people here with below par debating skills..if we were all in the pub together talking about this I’d probably be sitting there on autopilot humouring you laughing inside every time you lot tried to be profound or revolutionary I’d actually enjoy this level of debate easy on the brain and I’d feel good about myself when I left the gaff for sure

Ok fair enough it just sounded like pointless rhetoric that had no value or direction towards any sort of furthering of the debate..

I mean when you suggest that it’s simply just a case of the opinion of a chairmen of a football clubs board that determines whether or not a black person or white would be employed as a manager it kind of disregards and detracts from the whole point I made about how it’s not just about the application process why black players would be discouraged from taking the route into management..I’m not arguing about the sum of all the factors (which is ultimately the decision at the end of the process) I’m talking about the systemic feeling of being on the peripherals of society not just in football but in the pubs in the newspapers and in the street.

Which is why that toepunt fella missed the point completely as I did not accuse any club or organisation of being racist in the employment process I just merely commented on the stigma that surrounded black players for the last 30/40 years that manifested in various different aggressions from people throwing bananas or shouting black b****** at games to being hung out to dry in the press even as recently as tashford Sterling and saka.

If 0people haven’t noticed the sometimes slight but sometimes huge difference between the way black players and white players are portrayed or perceieved then their nonchalance and naivety is suspect at best.

Is referring to "you lot" an example of your above par debating skills?

The perfect vehicle for a retired player of means. A bit like Scholes & Co have done at Salford City.

Is that the the only hole you could pick in my statement? Like I said there are some very sad people on here..”you lot” refers to the angry trolls who try to lynch me on the hill every time I write something...it’s not actually a reference to the “them and us” mentality of yester-year that I imagine some people would hope Id be referring to in order to sling the reverse racism card at me which would satisfy their delusions that I’m just an angry little man who hates white people...You lot would love that but sorry to disappoint I love white people my grandma is white I’m just an impartial observer being able to sit on the fence and look inwards with a balance is one of the advantages of being mixed white and black. Sorry guys

Campbell's problems appear closely linked to his "difficult" personality. I've heard from more than one source that over the years, a number of clubs (admittedly outside the Premiership) have interviewed him with a serious interest in hiring him but completely changed their minds after speaking to him in person. Wasn't that the reason he lost the jobs he did get, too; the results weren't awful (given the resources he had at his disposal) but within six months he had fallen out with everyone from the chairman to the players? From what I've heard in the media and from direct interviews with him, he appears to take the view that it's "my way or the highway" and he has a rather higher view of his (totally unproven) managerial abilities than his prospective bosses do. Furthermore, he's been quick to play the racism card as the reason he's had few opportunities. To be clear, it's pretty obvious that ingrained racism is almost certainly a reason we haven't had more black managers, but I'm not sure it's the reason Sol Campbell hasn't found a job.
