I know this is unlikely. I know he's inconsistent. I know he's not a sensible signing. But if we could only sign one more player this summer I'd love it to be him. He's hilarious with his mad skills and I just love watching him. I was disappointed we didn't get him the first time around. Newcastle are too pragmatic and sensible for him now. We love entertaining wingers. Him, Eze and Olise would be super spicy!

I’ve always liked him, he always looks so dangerous and lively, If Wilf did go he’d be a great replacement, most wingers are inconsistent, look at Wilf, but they make up for it with that flash of brilliance

Might be worth a dart. Newcastle must be getting up to their FFP limit and have just spent another £55m so will need to sell before long.

Especially as I’m not sure Eddie Howe is overly keen St Max, he only ever seem to come on as sub most of the time last season, if at all

As long as it doesn’t involve a swap deal with Andersen :'(

I agree...thought we should have got him the first time... he’s unpredictable which is what’s needed... wish Wilf would make a decision soon... think he could be bought for around £20k ...

Million...that is....

As a general maxim I would not sign players of his age.

There is no chance of ASM joining us. Why the hell would he leave a club who is in the Champions League this season? He is on big money too which we wouldnt give him. There is more chance of Roy getting the England job again than we will see ASM in a Palace shirt next season.

Agree, the toon are going to need to use the squad next season. Would be an insane time for him to leave.

According to clickbait The Toon are actively looking to get rid of him

But if they keep signing players and with the locally trained players rule, and as we suspect Eddie Howe doesn’t fancy him, he might not even be in their champions league squad, especially if they are looking to off load him

From his point of view yes but NOT Newcastle's. They are concerned re FFP and desperately want to strengthen their squad for the CL. I think Howe sees ASM as a luxury who can be sold to provide the extra funds he needs to strengthen elsewhere. The fact that Newcastle apparently baulked at the fee (40m?) we wanted for Andersen points to them needing to sell to fund their perceived needs, one of which appears to be Harvey Barnes (an ASM replacement?).

Having said all that I'm not suggesting ASM would come here. I'm simply saying that I believe Newcastle want him off their books.

The only way I could see a deal for him is a part exchange for Andersen.

That had crossed my mind too. However, I'm not convinced ASM is our top Wilf replacement target (that is, if we have one). If Andersen were to leave (and Zaha doesn't re-sign) then I would hope that what funds we then have would go on a striker.
