The goal by Jim Cannon against Ipswich in 1979 was definitely the best I remember (but I don't think it was from 30 yds - Jimbo ran about 60 yds to take a return pass from Mike Flanagan and met it about 10 yds out and slid it in, as I recall). But I had discharged myself from hospital in order to see the game after being admitted following a heavy drinking session the night before, so who am I to have the facts right? I also recall a great strike from Steve Kember against Portsmouth in April 1969 but afterwards he said he used his hand just before to control it. And some of those by Ian Wright were just sublime.... Dougie (and to a certain extent Tommy Black) is capable of giving us a few moments to savour but there are precious few in this team. All I can say about the present team is that it's a lot better than the one Steve Coppell took over in the mid-1980s so there's hope for a new manager somewhere there.

Two very good goals from Marcus Bent and Deano against Bolton at the Reebok a few seasons back...we lost 5-2 i think, but both were peaches struck in the top corner.

i liked Aki's 40yd outside foot piledriver into the back of the Whitehorse net against Wimbledon in 2001, that was the same game as the two Michael Boltons.

Ian Wright against Grimbledon at Plough Lane. Made Beckham's similar effort look like a Carl Leaburn tap in.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Wright's first in the Cup Final- just for seeing Pallister fall on his *rse and Leighton - well doing nothing, really.
