British judges interpret British law and in a parliamentary democracy decide that Parliament is sovereign. Controversial?

This is nothing to do with voting leave or remain and everything to do with honouring our democratic processes and opposing the arbitrary power of the executive. Of course the conservatives could have put in a clause into the referendum bill that would have made all this unnecessary. I wonder why the likes of May, IDS, Boris and Gove weren't arguing to make the result binding.

Miller deserves a dame hood at the very least for services against democracy.

When are we going to invade Poland, that's what I want to know.

They only listen to snippets of news and jump to wrong conclusions.

It's a pleasure for me to debate with people you - we are from the opposite ends of the political spectrum I suspect, but have common ground quite often.

To be fair to them it isn't helped by "Enemies of the States" news headlines like the Mail and the Sun sent out - which were irresponsible. But anyone with a bit of common sense and reading more than two lines should be able to realise that the worst this would do is delay the trigger.

People just need to calm down. I still believe it was the wrong decision, but the world isn't going to end because we've taken it. Nor is the entire democratic process being undermined because the actual UK parliament have to debate the most important political decision being taken for years.

In fact maybe you're right, maybe people just are stupid and/or easily led sometimes. I give up!

Someone will pipe up best out of 3 if that happened.

Fact is, mp's are elected to vote for what they think is in their constituent's best interests not necessarily what the may have voted in the referendum.

Already seen veiled death threats aimed at remain MPs on twitter.

Jo Cox must be turning in her grave.

What pressure has been and is being applied to remain MPs of whom there are very few now.

Change their minds did they?

The sooner this brexit is away from our shores the better.

Let the 'coup de grace' be administered in Europe.

There won't be a 2nd referendum on the EU.

There might be a 2nd Scottish Independence referendum though and I might just move in with my friends in Edinburgh to register and vote YES..... then move back down here again!

Miller deserves a dame hood at the very least for services against democracy.

She only raised this issue for personal gain, hoping that her actions would prompt a 2nd referendum and stir the sh1t with the Jocks/Paddys.

All she has done has lined the pockets of 8 or so senior Judges with their extortionate fees paid for by our hard earned taxes.

She hasn't stopped or delayed article 50... infact her meddling has stiffened the resolve of the Brexiteers and made the Remoaners realise they cannot deny the will of the people.

A damehood.... dream on..... she should be sent the Judges' bills the silly interfering cow.

Out of interest, 523 pages in, has anyone changed their mind about how they'd voted having read a comment on here that opened their eyes? Not that I am suggesting for one moment that this forum represents a significant enough cross section of society to extrapolate that any further.

A little confused on what this is supposed to achieve. Court case and appeal to force the government to go through parliament (fair enough outcome) but all that means is that government will now draw up a very small white paper and it will be passed in days, so all that has happened is to possibly delay the process by a few days?

Why didn't the government just raise the white paper anyway - it could have been in by now and save all the expense of the case and appeal.

And also, why aren't the liberals up in arms about the use of white paper? Seems well racist to me.

Definitely not its Mrs May who should foot bill for a quite unnecessary court case and appeal and not the public.

Mrs. May was caught out trying to bypass parliament so much for returning sovereignity there I thought that was the main aim of leave?

Will be interesting to see if she has to go before a committee later on and explain.

Wouldn't like to estimate how big the bill will be.

If anyone has lined the lawyers pockets it is May who not only disobeyed the law but pursued it to appeal when they appear to have been privately reporting that they expected to lose. Ultimately Miller was right wasnt she.

Sadly I agree. The whole thing has been pointless, given the backing May will get to push the white paper through, but it was a poorly thought out idea to pursue it in the court of appeal

I think a lot of people would love to do what you mentioned just to get shot of the little poisoned dwarf that is Nicola Sturgeon she is a pain in the @rse and needs to be taken down a peg or two.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Thing is there's no arguments in complaints about Sturgeon other than Krankie or poisoned dwarf. Same with Dianne Abbott (big fat black woman) Corbyn Geograpyteacher etc etc. No substance just bile. Poor debating tactic that ensures the poster has no credibility.

Where shall we start nick, little Jimmy krankie will not win a second vote on the referendum ( and she knows it).
If they had independence after we left Europe they would be up s***e creek without a paddle.
There oil is running out,she is doing it to justify her position.
And that brings us to the wonderful Dianne Abbot, well apart from her racist views (which she seems to get away with wonder why).
Then there is the Sheer hypocrisy of the private school fiasco...don't do as I do ..do as I say,the very epitome of the champagne socialist.
