And I assume that is why he got a vote of no-confidence. He didn't know his onions.

I'll get my coat.

So... if we're out of the EU and trading with our old commonwealth chums and USA mainly, where is the Red Tape and Bureaucracy coming from?

.....the EU have a monopoly on that!

We now have the infrastructure to contain sewage waste.... but we wouldn't if Millions more arrived and yes our Rivers and Seas would suffer.

As for airports, these will be quieter without loads of immigrants arriving so I guess queues will be shorter?

Not that I want to rain on your Leave parade.....ok, i do....but nearly 200,000 non EU citizens, Africa, Asia, The Middle East and the Americas, etc, made up most of net migration.

52% ironically.

Leaving the EU will not put a stop to them.

There will be queues.

Err, correction Hrolf. Read the thread. And it isn't just myself and Jamie who are uncomfortable with this attempt to subvert the outcome of the referendum. I suspect most Remain voters - while unhappy with the outcome and what appears to be the dismal level of education in this country - also accept the result.

Yes, which is why I referred specifically to Remain pant wetters and not Remains generally.

Maple is one of the former.

Move on? How exactly?

This Brexit is not just a thought process. There is no sudden new dawn. It is rather intricate and complicated. A helluvalot of things have to be sorted over the next five to ten years before we will be able to move on.

Leave was a protest vote. People have ranted. But I notice no one in the 'Out' camp is protesting on the streets that we invoke Article 50 now. It's like the EU is not so bad after all that we have to go sharp-ish, it appears.

Well some have not been able to let go of referendum defeat yet.
What bothers me is not the process going forward but the attempts by some to subvert it with spurious attempts to nullify the result with legal shenanigans.
The process was always going to take time and you will find the Leave camp getting militant if it appears that the Tories are trying to wriggle out of leaving the EU or brushing over immigration reduction.

No, but the political trend is clear. People want a reduction in immigration and the government can cut non EU migration right now. Anyone failing to listen to the electorate will pay the price at the next election.

Anyone want a pickled onion?

Just had a nice rice salad, with pickled onions and pickled cabbage mixed in. Delicious.

The queues will be shorter by 133,000 then!

That's just the start though, once we instill the Aussie style points system, the only visitors here will be welcomed as part of a structured immigration strategy/programme and we will be expecting them rather than the unstructured "come on over join the party" attitude we currently have with muggers/rapists/pickpockets/drug peddlers/sex traffickers/terrorists etc amongst the genuine good guys looking to build a life for themselves and enrich our communities.

Technically though they are subject to UK immigration policy, laws and regulation in a way that EU migrants tend not to be.

Also, I think it will increase them, as corporate interests will switch towards non-EU labour as a means of keeping wages low, and will be looking for a friendly government that will be happy just putting up a 'EU Migration cut by 60%' battle cry, whilst carefully manipulating non-EU working migration statistics.

Its not immigration that's the issue, well except for the racists, but the scale of mass migration.

You do know the UK can and does turn them back at the border where they are aware of their offences, even if they're from the EU. The problem has more been the UK has been very poor with its border control systems, having completely failed to replace its 1992-1996 IT systems, until 2014

Pretty sure that you don't need a points system to prevent convicted felons from entering a country. How many points would you need to make up for prior convictions for rape or murder?

No, no options for either on the canteen menu, which I think is shockingly poor. Well they have something called Cheddar, but its a affront.
