Last window we signed Eze - which certainly wasn't "the same type of Player"as you alluded to. We still have a majority of older aging defensively minded players, so just Eze won't change this (much). If we buy more like Eze over the summer, then we will slowly be allowed to move away from the turgid defensive play that people are so frustrated with. as It has been pointed out, RH has tried to be more Attacking at times but we've ended up leaking goals. (and still not Scoring!) Edited by CrazyBadger (10 Mar 2021 1.47pm)

It seems to me that Hodgson doesn't know what to do with Eze, was he a Hodgson purchase? Seem unlikely to me, which, as other posters have noted, suggest the DOF and manager aren't on the same wavelength.

Didn't Eze choose us after he spoke to us regarding what we wanted his role to be? seems hard to beleive That this would happen without RH's input. More Likely is that he was brought in in with all The best intentions, but by playing Eze in This role, it weakened the rest of our team defensively, so he was asked to play more defensively himself.

It may just be poor form or that he's playing out of position. Benteke, PVA, Sakho, Townsend all seem to have got worse as well. It could be age. Could be Roy, more likely a bit of both. Benteke's goal to cross ratio has been very good this season though.

I think he benefits from Wilf playing as when he isn’t, the opposition in recent games have seen Eze as a threat and marked him accordingly. With Wilf back he should get more space and of course the interplay with Wilf we had started to see

I very much doubt Scott Parker would want to take on the project that is cpfc just to stay in the premiership. He is Fulham through and through and is now doing well as a manager regardless of whether they stay up or not. Fulham through and through? He played for no less than 5 London clubs including Charlton, Chelsea, West Ham, Spurs and Fulham. He's about as Fulham as I am. Not that I can understand why people would want Scott Parker to take over from Roy when we are above them in the league!

The decline felt this season could be the lack of home fans. It seems to have helped some clubs like West Ham but negatively affected clubs like Liverpool and Palace. I want Roy to be given another season and begin the rebuild with stability unless a really good and obtainable alternative manager is found. Someone in the mould of Ralph Hasenhüttl without the 9 - 0 drubbings. Plays progressive attacking football with a lot of pressing. I can't think of one though. Graham Potter tries but struggles with the execution.

His progression will not always be linear -- two steps forward, one step back. Not sure it can be pinned on the manager. Long term, the fact that he has played different positions, and has been asked to do different things, could be of some utility. I agree with some of the sentiments on here that Wilf's return could open things up for him.

Or not. The more I think about this the more I come to believe that the Board will offer Roy, if he's agreeable to it, a one year extension. After the FdB debacle I think management will be even more risk adverse than usual and will opt to stick with Roy to get us over the contractual issues coming this summer. Can't impact the aging squad quickly but with a few additions of youth & some decent loans will go again next year into stay-up mode just to get over the hump with, hopefully, Roy leaving a younger, better team when he does ultimately retire. I have no evidence for this. Just a feeling given how management have been operating over the last few years. So, at best, another year of defensive football playing it safe to stay up. Given the hole we have to crawl out of I don't think we can expect more than this. Of course this could all change if the dream manager turns up on our stoop looking for work but what are the odds of that? Edited by redshift (10 Mar 2021 5.42pm)

Or the WBA team under him? ALL attack!

Roy hasn't been supported well enough by our board and he has been capable of building attacking teams, but WBA was the last you mentioned that was in 2012 and he wasn't there very long. Fulham was a great side that got to a UEFA cup final but he was well backed by Al-Fayed. Roy mentioned his age after the United game and so that could be the deciding factor in his and Parish's thoughts.
