Refugees? What's wrong with the 40 countries between Eritrea and the UK? They go to the UK as it's the only European country without ID cards.

If only 98% of Eritrean refugees aimed for the UK rather than the 2% it actually is. We need to keep an eye on the 2% though. Edited by Kermit8 (22 Jun 2017 7.28pm)

Again with the 2%. How many people is that? Does it matter? You can't just go picking and choosing a 'safe country.' Edited by corkery (22 Jun 2017 11.13pm)

I do think you can safely call Hrolf the far far far far right......Up to him, I would probably struggle to get a visa to watch Palace play after Brexit, never mind my daughter who is half/half and has two passports one of which is British..... Originally posted by topcat
Someone had died and the far right on the HoL are using it for political point scoring. Isn't this exactly what they were accusing nickgusset of on other threads?

Far right? Not believing in dual citizenship isn't 'far right'. I don't agree with it either. It devalues nationality in my book a person should be made to chose or have the choice made for them. Several countries won't have it, Japan doesn't and it isn't 'far right'.

It surely is denying the world has changed and has become a small place. Many international relationships produce dual nationality children. Why should they have made a choice for them? Apart from the fact that some counties, or regimes you may say, do not allow people to give up their nationality...... And whatever is far or not on the left-right scale is in the eye of the beholder of course..... Originally posted by Stirlingsays

And whatever is far or not on the left-right scale is in the eye of the beholder of course..... Why should your children have more rights than my children by accident of birth? That's one point. The second point is that nations have a right to determine who is a citizen/subject. It isn't an entitlement...Well, their laws decide where the balance lies there.....though obviously where you were born gives you a very strong claim. I'm against the idea of dual citizenship in all but extreme or sympathetic circumstances. For you to say that being against dual citizenship means that you are far right is plainly ridiculous and hyperbolic. Everything is of course in the eye of the beholder but in my view, if that's your eye then it clearly needs a trip to the opticians. Far right indeed.
