I always preferred Motty to Barry Davies who specialised in sounding bored IMHO. Nice for Motty to go out on a high by finishing at Selhurst Personally I am a big fan of Jonathan Pearce, even though he's calmed down a lot since joining the Beeb. I like commentators to be fans!

I have always found Motson irritating but then I can't stand Martin Tyler either. I liked Jonathan Pearce back from his Capital Gold days but my favourite was Brian Moore. Old fashioned but likeable. Met him once. Really nice chap.

I have always found Motson irritating but then I can't stand Martin Tyler either.
I liked Jonathan Pearce back from his Capital Gold days but my favourite was Brian Moore. Old fashioned but likeable. Met him once. Really nice chap.

Used to live in Farnborough Park, near Bromley, and was a director of Gillingham.
