I don't have issues with jokes about different groups. ...it's not even about 'groups'...it's some protected 'classes'. For example women are allowed to make jokes about men all the time....but vice versa and you're the devil. Well he's right wing. I don't have issues with jokes about different groups. ...it's not even about 'groups'...it's some protected 'classes'. For example women are allowed to make jokes about men all the time....but vice versa and you're the devil.

Been in a room in Sydney with Steve having an open therapy session with me and the small audience that he was trying his material out on. Was a very bizarre experience but enthralling at the same time. I have always believed that a fear of words should never be encouraged. I am happy for people to tell White person jokes. I positively embrace it. Others should adopt an equally dismissive attitude toward 'banter' and accept that we all do it.
I think the difference with Davidson and people of that ilk is that he was telling 'minority' jokes when we lived very much in a bullying culture where minorities were a lot smaller in number and often the target of systematic abuse. It was no different to being abused for being fat, ginger or short.
Nowadays we are in a different world where we need to reject the scary reality of obsessive political correctness and redress the balance of tolerance.
