This I agree with you on. Power and pace is overrated if you don't have the ability to go with it, Puncheon has the ability and can offer something different to what Townsend would on the right - it will be good to have him back in the squad for the quality and experience he brings.

He’ll have some use and he’s apparently very obedient working for Roy.

Wasn't a million years ago that he was being talked about as an England squad possible (back in the Pulis days), and at his best is a fair Premier League player, so of course it's good to have him available again. Personally I never thought he was fast enough for the wing, but I could see him doing well on the left for Roy, who likes a narrow shape in midfield. He can tuck in, PVA or Schlupp can get on their bikes, all seems fine to me.

No - most definitely not - once really good for us - now a liability

Not really excited but relieved that he's back and available as a back up player. Parrot

I think he will want to prove himself and will have a good season. Don't think he is captain material, that's for Luka, but yes, he can do a job this season.

Puncheon's nose dive in form coincided with the arrival of Cabaye who replaced him in the prime attacking midfield role and also took over the role as free kick taker (btw did Cabaye ever score from a direct free kick?). His nose was so put out of joint by this that his confidence was lost and was never the same player. Now that Cabaye has gone, who knows? Edited by Johng (29 Jul 2018 4.50pm)

I'm hoping that after his long injury lay off Puncheon will have got his mojo back

Only Puncheon has everything to lose again! Once again he seems to have another chance and is hopefully trying to make an impression under the current regime. However he will need to show real determination, stamina and guise to offset his lack of pace and skill when given an opportunity. I remain unconvinced but as he still contracted to the Club why would he not want want to do a good job and why would Palace be disinterested in JP?
