Scott Dann has a real eye for goal which the likes of Sakho and Tompkins just haven’t shown.

Bigger issue seems to be we don’t have much of a plan, with a couple of exceptions. Must be hundreds of corners have gone on in the last couple of seasons to little effect.

Anyway you are not wrong there when you state things are much easier on the eye these days. But as you said Pulis had a far inferior squad. One thing about Pulis was we could get absolutely battered then nick a 1-0.

These days we often do the battering but don’t get what we deserve through poor finishing.

Ironically Schlupp is not one of the culprits there and often takes his chances this year or makes something happen in the box.

Was saying this to my mate I go with the other day.. We used to be so dangerous from corners.. I'm struggling to think of the last time we scored from a corner.. Or how many we have scored from corners over the last couple of seasons.

Er - sorry to go against the grain here, but don't forget that James Tomkins scored with a rather splendid header from a corner at Anfield recently, so it's not exactly like we never score from corners. Doesn't happen often though.....! With the size and physical prowess of all our centre backs (Sakho/Tomkins/Dann) + Tekkers of course, it's a source of bemusement that we are so ineffective with those set pieces. Same with free kicks of course..

Problem he is going to have with us is that I just dont think that when we play a 3 in midfield he is ever going to play regularly. It looks like he just doesnt fit into what Roy wants. He can’t pass, his first touch is appalling and he goes missing time and time again when we lose the ball- often because of him. I’m astounded that anyone can’t see that Max is pure class- he’s the complete antithesis of Schlupp. Never gives the ball away, always available for a pass, probably the best touch in the club. Meyer is pure class and we were very lucky to get him. Great to see Max stronger, more determined, more focus, has more hunger, more able to find space in tight areas and has vision,something our team needs.
