I don't like our anthem it's such a dirge.

Land of Hope and Glory would be great.

If anybody knew the words of the second verse they would have a fit.

Why do you feel so proud when the flag goes up and the anthem is played?

It is ridiculous but I wouldn't ban it for the world.

'boiled beef and carrots' would be a great anthem imagine foreigners trying to decipher it.

They are far more effective than crap self-defeating brexit.

I think anthems and flags (and taking the knee) are daft.

We all agree that our national anthem sucks.

Time for bed.

I guess it all comes down to your take on patriotism. Universally people look to symbols to represent their nation.

I have no problem with people holding values that differ from those, but there is an inevitability to symbols reflecting identity.

There are a few on here who are patriotic about the EU. Don't know whether they leap to their feet when 'Ode to Joy' is played or get a lump in their throats when they see a blue flag with some stars on it. There are others who do the same with the 'Red Flag' - the song and the banner. Similar with the Union Flag and 'God Save the Queen'. All daft in my opinion.

You must be ashamed to be white as well as British.

Its not about being ashamed to be white or British. You can be proud to be British but be knowledgeable about history and the things that we did to become an empire.

The knowledgeable bit puts you at a disadvantage because you are not. But anytime you want you can do something about that.

Whereas history is something we have to live with.

Back then in Britain anti semitism was quite common.

Now, it's only a problem in the Labour party.

Incoming secular or cultural Muslims are not a problem.
Islam is here to stay in Britain.

What is the problem is having over twenty thousand on watch lists and over 600 ongoing MI5 investigations, the vast majority on Muslims. There are children and adults walking about now, who will be murdered by some of these people or others not on those lists.

People like you Nick have zero solutions to these problems and instead you blame those pointing them out.

You and your fellow travellers on this matter have to take some responsibility as it's people like yourself that Nawez and other Islamic reformers call the regressive left.

You haven't mentioned internment camps for a while.

I think there is a more realistic way of viewing these things.

Once you have a good understanding of human nature you are able to view the events of the past, present or indeed future to come the same way....for what they were....exploitation by the advantaged over the disadvantaged.

This is not a British trait or any other nationality trait...this is a human trait. It's like complaining about human beings and selfishness....which when I see it I usually smile as plenty of times the accusations is made by the self absorbed.

It's safe to say that the concept of empires is a negative one in terms of justice. However we are talking about a period of history where if you didn't have an empire you were going to be within one. However, the British empire also did very constructive things compared to other empires.

There are nations on earth now who....who because of the institutions we set up within them and that cultural legacy have advantages over other nations.

Isn't Vicki Kirby still actually in the Labour Party? Under Miliband’s leadership Kirby was kicked out within hours.

Well, I was wrong to say it was 'only' a problem in the Labour party. Some far right groups are very anti Semitic.

Also I wouldn't accuse the Labour Party itself as being anti semitic. However, in our modern times it is predominantly a problem on the left.

I've met plenty of left wing people I'd class as showing varying levels of anti semitism.

Anti Israeli government policy or anti Jewish people. Some people don't have the mental wherewithal to be able to differentiate.
