Caulker's story isn't that different from many of the current squad. Cast off by other teams, didn't quite make it. Depends how much he has to prove I know. Of the current squad I can think of Bolasie, Delaney, and even Zaha was discarded as being not up to it. Furthermore, a couple of our best buys over the last few years have been Jedi (hardly well known) and Ward (ditto). I think some will only be happy when we are consistently linked with the likes of Bonucci, Chiellini, and Pique, etc.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

Do we have any European scouts? Our signings seem so lazy.

He appears to lack the mental fortitude that we need. Failed at QPR, Southampton and Liverpool. Of course if Chielini is interested...........

Only 24 and look at all the Premier League clubs that have had him: Not one of them wanted to keep him...surely that tells you something about his ability. Always thought Kyle Bartley at Swansea looked alright when I've seen him, admittedly he's not their first choice, so could be wrong. And depending on what Liverpool do, Joe Gomez could be worth a bid or at least loan approach.

We need cover and competition for places at centre back. Mutch failed to establish himself in a midfield area we were already well stocked in. I don't rate Caulker any more than I do Mutch but positionally it makes sense. But why would QPR want Mutch back ?

Maybe Pardew thinks he can coach him back into form?
