This is a major issue. If Poland does what it says it is going to do, it simply cannot remain a voting member of the EU. Also, the EU is demonstrating, once again, its willingness to hold a gun to the head of those whom opposes its practices.

My guess is the EU will be as effective in curbing the distasteful nationalistic excesses of the (yeah right)" Law and Justice" Party as they have been with the similarly repulsive (and in that case WW2 fascist rehabilitating) regime in Hungary... The EU ain't the bad guys in this sad and sorry scenario...and to see us trade a royal visit last week to give succour to a dodgy regime in presumed trade off for Brexit-related deal support made the stomach turn..

Whether its centre-left or centre-right socialist achievements of free education the welfare state the national health service remain in place as fundamental to society.
