Quite possibly the last potential prime minister in our lifetimes with a principled mission in politics beyond self-gain.

Quite possibly the most ineffective and divisive leader ever of the Labour. Quite possibly out of touch and still thinks he’s in the 1960s. Quite possibly a nasty antisemite. Quite possibly now HISTORY.

And that is why they are in the mess they are in now, political infighting and the blame game.

Within any political party there are jobs which should be above the fray such as the running of the party (not the policies). The people in that office should be strong enough to stand up to the leader as he is temporary but they need to represent all sides of the party who one day may be in power. A civil service if you like.

The internal report that was leaked recently showed staff members withholding funds for key marginals and actively prolonging disciplinary proceedings to make the party look bad. This isn't conjecture, it's fact.

Labour has now lost the last 4 elections - with leaders from every side of the party - and these people have faced no accountability whatsoever.

The decision today is f*cking idiocy - and I know you may think that's me saying it as a lefty, but think about the context. Unite, which is the single biggest donor to the Labour party, have put their funding into question recently. Today's decision will almost certainly mean that Starmer will lose that money. Thousand and thousands of members are also going to leave, adding another massive hole in the party finances.

It would seem as if the ground is therefore ripe for a new left wing party, which would be the nightmare of all nightmares for Starmer, because it would effectively end any chance of him becoming PM. The money's there, the activists are there, and now the anger is there.

They could have just let Corbyn see out his last few years from the backbench before retirement, watched the internal struggles blow over as leftists lost interest and still picked up their apathetic votes come election day because hey, we're never going to vote Tory. But they didn't, because they had their petty vendettas, and about as much political nous as flaccid c*ck.

All those w***ers chanting his name at Glastonbury should be rather sheepish now, I expect many FB posts being deleted as fast as possible.

Anyone who does not accept the findings of the report in full or thinks the anti semitism was exaggerated is not welcome in the Labour party.

Interesting times ahead

Starmer has certainly acted and should be congratulated for that

Go on then, name the conclusions of the report.

Normal service resumed.
From voters to politicians.
The left eating each other.
Glorious

100%. Quite staggering. And many of those staff members then left the Labour Party and took up posts with the Peoples Vote campaign. Remember them? LOL.

Your boy Corbyn must have scared the s*** out of the powers that be in 2017. Absolutely caused them to cack their pants. 40% of the vote he pulled in. LOL. Ed Milibands entire strategy in 2015 had been to get 35%.

But then t***s like you had to be all precious about Brexit. Think you knew it all. That somehow what people really wanted was to have to go through the farce of a second referendum again. And Starmer is the cheer leader. Going against agreed Shadow Cabinet policy in that speech he gave at the 2018 at conference. Directly contradicting what had been said by Corbyn and McDonnell in the run up to it.

They should have sacked Starmer there and then. Pledged to honour the Brexit vote like they had in 2017. Stuck by their guns. Honoured the most basic of democratic principles.

Instead they just cracked. Lost their bottle. Allowed Starmer and Thornberry to come up with the worst possible of all stances on a second referendum. Thornberry even boasting how she was going to get a deal, put that on the ballot, and then vote against it. You could not make this s*** up if you tried. A policy GUARANTEED to lose them any general election fought on it. The electoral maths smacking you in the face, the basic reality of England & Wales voting on a constiuency basis of 73 to 27 in favour of Brexit. And the a country sick to death of it all. With Labour just promising more of the same, none of which would have settled anything.

And Labour get f***ed. Absolutely rogered. Lose seats that have never been anything else other than nailed on Labour. Blowing majorities in excess of 10,000. Utter catastrophy.

Here we are, less than a year later. Starmer is leading the very party whose electoral defeat he masterminded and has now suspened the man who got 40% of the vote in 2017. Who engineered the biggest swing (or so I believe) ever achieved in a general election.

Beautiful. I do love a political shenanigan but this tops them all. Popcorn on order, deckchair in place and all ready to watch you Lefties, after a few hysterics, fall into place with it all.

Or will you surprise me? Actually show some cajones? I suspect not but would love to see it.

Charming.

I have always said I took no side on Brexit. In fact I was leaning towards voting for it but in the end felt the whole thing was futile.

If we want to build a political project for localism, democracy and for the benefit of citizens, we need to create something people engage in. Otherwise you end up with the Tories or Blairism, where a tiny cabal of people work for the benefit of big finance.

Corbynism was as close as we have come in decades. Mass membership, local activism, and getting ordinary people involved in the political process. It terrified the status quo, and that's why they have now ruthlessly disposed of him. But the millions who made that project haven't gone away, and are more than capable of building something again.

This is true, one of the old school politicians in it for the many, not the few! Unfortunately, the working class masses fall in to the buying a rag every morning to read the sport and read the headlines, made up by the billionaires living abroad favouring our etonian friends, believing that these rich billy bunter/lord snooty types have the working mans interest at heart! I have given up on saving the working classes, i"m quite enjoying sitting back and watching their faith in boris and his cronies unravel, especially up north, i think Jeremy should stick to feeding the homeless in London on christmas day, as he has done for the past 30 years, while boris has a few weeks on his billionaire pals caribbean island free, and the workers enjoy their sandwiches!

Nah! It was more that he was a Marxist nutcase who sympathised with terrorists and tried to deny the Brexit the country voted for despite being anti Europe his who political career.
A total w***er if ever there was one.

Your first part is indisputable. The brazeness of it is shocking and Corbyn clearly terrified them.

But the second? I am open to being surprised but one of the myths about the Left is that somehow it is this ruthless machine. Corbyn and co had the Labour party in their grip after 2017. Could have smashed the moderates, introduced manadatory selection and generally really imposed a genuine socialist water-mark on Labour once again. And 2017 proved it could work. A stunning achievement.

But they dont build on that. Instead they let Starmer and co screw them over.

However given that the majority of people who backed Corbyn in the first place were also the morons who pushed to have Brexit renderend null and void, thus playing into the very hands of the people who wanted JC gone, I have little faith.

But lets see. Willing to be surprised.

...

I sympathise with much that you say now and in your previous posts but there's no doubt we disagree about JC. Corbynism became a cult for a minority of Labour supporters fed by Momentum and in turn ostracised a lot of core long-term members such as myself.

I gave JC my support when he was elected but his obsession with the Israel/Palestine problem and not acting swiftly and firmly over the undoubted cases of antisemitism inside the party meant that I could not support him.

Putting aside the Labour MPs who resigned over antisemitism I know other Jewish Labour members who felt they could not support JC and his followers and have left the party feeling deeply hurt. Some of the antisemitic statements made by people who identified themselves as JC supporters are utterly indefensible.

Like many others I want a Labour Party capable of being elected and putting into practice core Labour values. Starmer has suspended JC and some might see that as a foolish act as it will antagonise JC supporters. I think it's a pragmatic act in the same way that Kinnock kicked Militant Tendency out of the party.

Time to move on from JC and Momentum. Time for Labour supporters to support the party and not a faction.

By the way, if anyone wants a good laugh, go and have a look at the Facebook page 'We Support Jeremy Corbyn'. A refugee for the truly delusional.

But Militant never gained 40% of the vote at an election. Militant never gained 300 000 members for the Labour party. Militant never built policy platforms on renationalisation, a Green New Deal and the Preston model which are now finding cross-party approval.

As I repeat, if Starmer thinks that by suspending Corbyn he can move on from his legacy, he is a fool. Had he not suspended Corbyn, he may well have managed it.
