Hard to disagree with much of that. It was always a bit of damp squib really in that when push comes to shove the attempts to equate anti-semitism with criticism of Isrealis policies falls down pretty much at the first corner of any kind of rigourous examination. Which ultimately is really the crux of it all.

But lets be honest, a significant proportion of the Left feel Israel should not exist in the first place. Which is a lot more dubious.

Not sure about that. Maybe a few, but I think a lot of pro-Palestinian activists who properly engage with the issue would like a return to pre-67 boundaries. That Israel have consistently flouted international law by expanding their territory and never really faced sanctions undermines the very idea of borders around the world.

A final note on this most tedious of subjects. I find it very revealing that the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism have submitted formal complaints against MPs. Firstly, the report doesn't actually name individual MPs as being culpable. You could argue that it names the Leader of the Opposition's Office and so indirectly Corbyn, but they've gone after Dianne Abbott as well.

Now don't get me wrong, she has many faults. But what role has she played in anti-semitism? She isn't mentioned at all in the report. I doubt she even knows what it is FFS. Really confirms my suspicion that they were never that interested in what this report had to say, and just wanted to use it as a battering ram against their political opponents.

And Starmer was at the top table. His influence was plain to see given that he led the charge for the insane second referendum policy that done Labours legs.

Starmer was a MAJOR player in the Corbyn leadership. And yet appears to be getting off with not even a tap on the wrists.

Now you now my stance on Starmer being a fully paid up stooge but how he seems to be swerving any of the blame for this is beyond me.

JC has rejected the conclusions of a report on antisemitism in Labour, saying the extent of the problem was “dramatically overstated for political reasons” by opponents and the media, and that this harmed Jewish people.

This is just a few rotten eggs and JC was slow as he has accepted.

There is no history of anti-semitism in the labour party, quite the reverse.

Typical of that virtue signalling momentum lot. So full of their own bulls*** they refuse to acknowledge they have any flaws.

JC started his statement "Antisemitism is abhorrent", using inflated adjectives to try and display false sincerity from the man who called Hamas and Hezbollah his friends.

Corbyn has taken no responsibility to any defeat he or the Labour Party have suffered at the polling booth.

Sadly, I think it will be very difficult to expel him as his supporters are excellent at playing the victim.

That’ll comfort JC during his suspension.

I think the main purpose of the report was to confirm that anti-Semitism was not being tackled by the Labour Party rather than a witch hunt against individuals.

Bearing in mind that people who work for the EHRC are likely to be sympathetic to the political left the report is quite clear that investigations were interfered with by the senior leadership.

As I have said before in any large organisation you will always get some people with offensive ideas and that includes the other political parties so this was never about Labour people are bad Tories good.

The issue EHRC looked at is how you tackle the complaints, is it done fairly and in a timely manner, in Labour's case it clearly wasn't. None of this precludes individuals pursuing legal cases for or against the report or the party and no doubt these will drag on.

Starmer has done the right thing in accepting the report and apologising. The blame game and politicking will now start within the party and no doubt Starmer will use it to strengthen his hand.

As for Corbyn it was on his watch and if he didn't personally interfere then people his office did as the reports states which then highlights his poor management skills.

Whichever you look at it this is a day of shame for the Labour Party which I hope they will now recover from.

He's not worried it will take them 3 years to investigate and then find him not guilty.

Wow. I take everything I previously said back!

The people who run Labour HQ - and have done since Blair - are absolute idiots. Like, how stupid do you have to be to make a martyr of Corbyn, even when the report didn't advise you to, and enflame the whole war again?

These are people who step out of their PPE degrees straight in to politics without a clue about the real world or how to operate in serious situations. They held a prejudice against Corbyn because he threatened their comofortable lifestyles running the machine of one of the most bloated and dysfunctional political parties in Europe. And they've now allowed their vengeance to spill over when there was absolutely no need.

And Starmer is responsible. Whether he pushed for his suspension or not, he has caved in to the loony right here, and he's started a war. That's what it will be from here.

To say they are clowns in a circus is to be too cruel to clowns.

Perhaps they’ll get Shami Chakrabarti to conduct another exhaustive enquiry.

Today is a good day and it ain't over yet

All those w***ers chanting his name at Glastonbury should be rather sheepish now, I expect many FB posts being deleted as fast as possible.

Anyone who does not accept the findings of the report in full or thinks the anti semitism was exaggerated is not welcome in the Labour party.

Interesting times ahead

Starmer has certainly acted and should be congratulated for that

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

And that is why they are in the mess they are in now, political infighting and the blame game.

Within any political party there are jobs which should be above the fray such as the running of the party (not the policies). The people in that office should be strong enough to stand up to the leader as he is temporary but they need to represent all sides of the party who one day may be in power. A civil service if you like.

Exactly her behaviour has been disgraceful.
