Potter went to Chelsea as not one of the elite managers with a succussful CV in terms of winning trophies.He was the Brighton manager whose team finished 15th, 16th and just over halfway in the PL.

When he joined Chelsea they were 6th and he departed with them languishing in 11th place so he never 'Hit the ground running'.Performances were below expectations as were results in the PL, however he did take Chelsea into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.Supporters were not impressed and some of the 'Phone-Ins' left one in no doubt that they wanted him to be shown the door.Potter himself just looked as though he wanted to be away from the club.

I was not surprised to hear the news that Chelsea had parted company with him and this might have been a relief to him.

The owner is barking mad, took on the job of DOF and just bought ridiculous amount of players. So many, there was not enough room in the training ground dressing rooms. Not all Potters fault imo.

Over hyped manager in my opinion, I’d much prefer Hassenhutl if we are looking at PL experience managers.

Ditto Lampard, wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. I was amazed when Chelsea took him back. If you look at the talent in that Chelsea squad it really shouldn’t be difficult to get a tune out of them unless of course there is massive unrest between players. Let him continue learning fine. With a view to promoting him to manager a year later? no way! Sentimental rubbish. We are supposed to be a professionally run Premiership team. Not some ragtag outfit that hands the job to an ex player to please the fans and get someone cheap. Those days are supposed to be long gone.
Let him manage in the EFL with a handshake agreement he'll be offered a chance at Palace if he does well and when the job becomes available.
You dont see many other successful established Premiership clubs handing their most important job to a novice.
