More and more players will have releases clauses now. If I was a player with "potential" I definitely would! Wilf would have been kicking himself for years that he didint have one.

No ill feeling towards Olise at all.

The relase clause isn't what's bothering me about this situation, its how unprotected minimum fees are against the rate of football inflation. How were the club to know that the value of transfers would sky-rocket following the injection of Saudi money into the European game? A £35m release clause for an unproven player in the PRemiership, doesn't seem that ridiculous for 2021 IMO

That's right. Some on here with 20/20 hindsight are blaming Freedman and Parish. F & P did what had to be done to get Olise to sign. We've had the best part of two years out of him and will pocket more than quadruple the price we paid. We take the money and move on.

The one exception is for youngsters who have come through the Academy and who the club have felt weren't good enough and have sold or released. The Express is reporting that the Olise deal has hit a snag and that they are now after Johnson of Forest.
What a saga with so much information/disinformation being put out there.
Roll on the end of the window until it starts all over again in January.
