Wouldn't have anything to do with the clubs fantastic state of the art Stadium to play in every fortnight or the wonderful training facilities at your disposal! Also with no European football and possibility of relegation again following last seasons second half performance. lets face it we can go and open doors, do deals with Presidents & Chairman of Clubs, trigger release clauses but enticing top players to actually want to come and play at Palace is entirely another matter.

Christ you happy bunch. Yes we're not the most glamorous club no our stadium is old ect. But sometimes in football players want to play week in week out. We signed cabaye who could have gone elsewhere? I'm sure wild could have had a few other offers ? Who knows what will happen.

one thing I just noticed about him watching his goals on YouTube. ..he's equally strong on both feet. taking pens with either foot...shooting curlers from outside the box with either foot....not many players who can do that I tellya

Well he was wanted by Newcastle who some may consider a bigger club due to stadium And finances. But that was the point some players want to play. And hopefully benteke is one of them willing to sacrifice a few pennies to play every week ?

I understand from our Flemish relatives that he's been told he needs to play regular 1st team football if he wants to rejuvenate his international career. Could be enough to convince him to 'step down' from the big clubs. Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Fair points all round let's just see. My main point was the negative people on here, I know you can't change that but I don't understand digging at the club you love.

I am surprised by this thread. One of the things I respect is that Crystal Palace fans cannot abide cheating or diving, even amongst our own. The most disappointing part of last season (and I mean specifically disappointing by way of incident) was when Benteke dived as if he had been shot. I don't like the debate of whether he was touched by the distant fibres of Delaneys boots of not; that is irrelevant. It was a cheating dive and it broke our hearts for many days afterwards. I personally will not welcome him with welcome arms. We should, as a club, be the pioneers in cleaning up football not rewarding the cheats by the team they cheated against. That is my view.

Agreed - the sanctimonious assumption that no one at Palace is ever guilty of something so heinous. Wilf goes down way too easily. Not always a dive but definitely going down under minimal contact.

And I remember AJ going over pretty specactularly under minimal contact as well.

If anything, benteke is a proven Prem goal scorer where Michy isn't. For that I'd pay 30 mil. I think benteke would be the ideal striker for us
