Having Jedi Back could be a fantastic psychological boost.

Defending set pieces with Jedi in the team would change the whole mindset. We're talking about stopping the sh1t teams constantly scoring winners against us, ie: Swansea... not the top 6. He'd be okay against the bottom 10. That's where our survival is - beating the lower teams. I could go on...get him back...good business.

People talk about his help at defending set pieces, but that's very risky to assume he'll be as effective as he was. He defends in the Damien Delaney mould. He gave away a penalty last season (Watford at home) for being too hands on and referees are far quicker to award those this season.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

How many games have we lost where Cabaye has been substituted off? A game Cabaye influenced - well he scored against Watford. Had Benteke not missed that penalty we might well have got 3 points from that match. Don't get me wrong, I'm not chairman of Cabaye's fan club, but I do recognise that he is technically our best midfielder and a player we should be looking to get the best out of by altering our formation/personnel alongside him. Jedi was a warrior and a great captain and player for us, but he was past his best. What he had in drive and physical presence he lacks in mobility and ability to pass (even simple balls at times). There is a reason he is now playing in the Championship and not a different Premier League team. I was sad to see him leave but I think that was due to nostalgia rather than what he could bring to the team now. If Cabaye is our best Midfielder prefer Mac myself it's time for him to show it.

You're only happy if he's done something special, and you only notice mistakes. He's had a number of games, including a few in the last couple of months where his work rate, passing and reading of the game have been very good.

Still of the 4 games we have won this season he only played in one. The second bold point is interesting , this is what I keep asking and no one can seem to answer clearly, what position / job is he supposed to be doing out there ? When we bought him , I thought and I think many others did that the team would function and revolve around his talents. It may have done in small spells or patches, but just hasn't happened or produced for a long while. Is it down to Pardew ?

Quite - Cabaye is a better player all round, but McArthur I think generally suits our more 'robust' style of play in midfield.

The same ratings that a lot of people use to justify Cabaye , the problem with them is that they do not actually show what the player really brings to the team. I'd rather rely on the mathematical analysis than opinion. Jedi, who I love as a player, wasn't particularly influential in the last half of the previous season (and barely featured in the first half that saw us reach the dizzying heights of 5th at Christmas).

Jedinak, Gayle and Murray are all playing in the Championship for a reason, we all know they aren't good enough for the Premier. There wasn't any interest from other Premier managers for them.

I totally disagree with you...I could not disagree with you more! Murray - He is good enough to play for a prem team but he doesn't want to be a bench player. He is an honest bloke who wants to play a key role for a club and so he would rather play for Brighton regularly...but that doesnt mean he isn't good enough. Jedinak - exactly the same thing...he wants first team football and Pardew said he couldn't ask him to sit on the bench for us week in week out (but Ledley and Mutch are ok for bench roles). It says a lot about his ability that he was more sought after than either Ledley or Mutch don't you think? To say Gayle isn't good enough for the prem just shows what a plonka you are...top scorer for us 3 years running or something like that??? After barely starting a game? On fire in the Champ??? He is prem quality all day long but he didn't suit our system...in some respects we were not good enough for him because we couldn't play with a front two.

Completely agree with Hudsoneagle. To say Gayle out of all of them isnt good enough is pretty funny considering how well he is doing and it isn't the first time is it? With the right system he gets goals consistently. Benteke isn't exactly setting the world alight with us is he at £30 mil.
