You might remember imaginary knives being held to throats but you do not remember actual knives being held to throats. That complete cobblers from sensationalist.
I was around in the 80s. It was nasty at times. Fans that went for a punch up did go tooled up at certain games but rarely got in the ground with weapons but stashed them nearby for after the game.
Even then they tended to go after like minded fans of the opposition who were keen on a punch up.
Palace never really had a 'firm'. Very few clubs did.
Some Millwall hooligans liked to try and bully Palace fans but I never saw anyone threatened with a weapon. In or out of the stadium.

All that side of it is a load of childish rubbish anyway.
I despise Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham fans for the size of their mouths, Liverpool, Man United fans for following a 'big club' when often said fan has never been to Liverpool/Manchester. I hate Watford because they sing only when the are winning and their team is full of thugs and I hate Brighton simply because they are obsessed with everything Palace has ever done and their fans (that I've met) are like whiney little girls.

My earlier comment was about Millwall in the 60's, not the 80's. They used to take half the Holmesdale with a police cordon down the middle. The was no searching in those days. So if you didn't see the violence, maybe it was before your time.

I saw a Millwall fan hold a knife to the throat of a Palace fan on the Holmesdale.

I would guess it was in 1973 (17 November). A bunch of them came in to steal scarves. All I could do was return the grin of this total animal and look away sharpish.

Well I was around in the 60's & 70's and I remember the knives I still have 2 scars from Those encounters I remember the surge in the holmesdale and how scared I was but we stood and got battered.

 

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Although it would be good fun if Brighton went down, I'm much more looking forward to Liverpool fluffing becoming crowned champions
