I've heard - don't know if it's true - that Luka was meant to be on the bench but then dropped out at last minute. Wayne was then drafted in as nobody else was on site and available.

Roy stated pre match that Luka & PvA had 'personal issues' so were released from club.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Totally without respect.

Whatever your thoughts on his abilities, that comment is just without class and uncalled for.

I consider Roy, whatever else he isn't, to be a true gentleman.

You could learn a lesson there.

If people really want to know:
a) why Hodgson picked Hennessey as well as Guaita
b) why no youngsters were on the bench
he answers those questions in the post-match press conference starting at 4.42 through to the end.

When you hear his answers they will show up this thread for what it is - a lot of hot air about nothing.

If you don't want to have to listen then the answers are:
a)there were no other first team squad players available so Hennessey was asked if he wanted the spare bench place and jumped at the opportunity
b) The U23s and the better U18 players will be involved tomorrow and Hodgson didn't want to interrupt their preparation for that important play-off semi-final

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I did not hear the post match interview before the match! Perhaps my thread title was badly worded I just thought it was strange to name 2 keepers on the bench.
