Not actually correct. Non citizens can vote in local government elections.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (28 Feb 2024 9.10am) A large number of people work in fast food or other low paid jobs. Some will be immigrants without high level qualifications who are here for reasons other than work, or are students doing 20 hours a week to help provide living costs. I am not addressing them. I am talking about those we are bringing here to fill skill shortages. Jobs that won’t get done if we don’t.

The usual lies. Native people do these jobs in most countries all over the world, including first world countries that didn't turn traitor on their own peoples. If you can't fill a position you aren't paying enough or the reality is that the market means your business isn't viable. But instead we get lies. Edited by Stirlingsays (28 Feb 2024 10.04am)

Sigh You must also be one of the following: a British citizen I saw that too. As I said there are different rules in Wales and Scotland. Commonwealth citizens who are normally resident in the UK and registered to vote have always been able to vote in local elections. However, those from the rest of the world, including now the EU, are not. So to make a blanket claim that “non citizens” can vote is incorrect. A few, very specific ones with ties to the UK, can.

“Native”:people do take the jobs! Obviously there’s not enough of them who are willing. No one more than me wants to see an end to the benefit culture. Everybody who is able to work should work, unless they can support themselves. Benefits should only go to those in genuine need. With many jobs now being done from home via the internet anyone capable of sitting in front of a screen can, and should, contribute to our economy and not be a drain on it. No excuses. Everyone. Not everyone has employment but everyone has a job. Those who are not employed have the job of finding employment. They should work as hard at that every day as anyone else. Get off your backside and on your bike. Get that right across our economy as a whole and the need for immigration will start to reduce.

So, non citizens can vote. Good luck It's probably quite simple if I understand the process correctly...you need a UK NI number to register to vote. These can be issued to people from abroad who are working/seeking work. They use them and then return home or go somewhere else in the world. There is no requirement for the NI number to be 'returned' or cancelled. Consequently, A.N.Other enters the country (let's assume illegally) and uses the previously issued NI number, using the same name and then has the right to vote.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

No one argues that selective small scale immigration is a problem.

Watching PMQs. Our Parliament is a disgrace. That is what decades of mass immigration has done to our democracy.

You will not admit that you are factually wrong. A few? There are approximately 1m Irish, 5m EU citizens and god knows how many Commonwealth who can vote so your statement that you have to be a citizen to vote is not true. You should apply to Palace I hear they are looking for someone to move the goalposts. Edited by Badger11 (28 Feb 2024 1.04pm)
