Michael Gove has distanced himself from some of the arguments he made during the Brexit referendum, including claims over levels of Turkish immigration.

The Leave campaign was criticised at the time for suggesting Turkey may join the EU by 2020 and up to 5.2m more migrants could come to the UK by 2030.

In a new book, Mr Gove says it "did not get everything absolutely right".

"If it had been left entirely to me, the Leave campaign would have had a slightly different feel," he admits.

There is no lie like a brexiteers lie, is there.

At least he has admitted it, although vaguely.

What about the damage Gove.

Both campaigns lied. You aren't balanced to talk about it.

We'll leaving the EU!

Politically June 23rd is one of the best days of my life.

we are leaving the EU as you say.

But becoming subservient to the EU as a Norway type satellite.

A puppet state reduced from empire by the tories to a third rate banana republic.

Wouldn’t fancy being involved with Vote Leave this morning.

Assume this is another conspiracy by the ‘elites’?

The way funds were disguised and shipped around to avoid detection by vote leave needs to be out in the public domain and prosecuted.

Leave Spending : £13.4m
Remain Spending : £28.3m

Even if you take out the £9m spent by the Government on the "it's your decision but please vote remain" leaflet, that's still an outspend of £6m by the side which lost.

That’s by the by and not what is being investigated by the police.

Your evidence of this is??

Oh I see you've just decided that they must be because they've found Vote Leave to have broken the law (not simply rules on submissions). The difference here is much like the difference between tax evasion and filing returns late or losing some invoices for legitimate expenses. Not the same thing!

steeleye20 Flag Croydon 17 Jul 18 2.49pm

The electoral commission has referred vote leave to the police, that must mean possible breaches of criminal law and prosecutions.

Must be something deeper to this than a fine for over-spending.

No not really. If the best you can do is imply a board of highly experience people are biased simply because they worked for a Bank, are "Labour appointed bureaucrats", "SNP has-beens" or writes "soft Brexit propaganda" (hilarious) then no not really.

You have no proof whatsoever to suggest any impropriety or bias from the EC other than your own biases (what a joke!). If you take a minute to read either the report or how they make decisions and then quality control their work you will realise it's not make it up slapdashery a la David Davis or Boris Johnson.

Incidentally, in 25 pages’ time, will HOL be able to cope with four-figure page numbering?

Highly experience (sic) in what, though? It doesn't detract from the obvious fact that they're not impartial.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

The Election Commission is very necessary with increased voting fraud and corruption.

Vote leave should have recognised their authority and complied with them but chose to obstruct.
