Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial |

Research Lewis Carroll , in fact the Rev. Charles Dodgson, professor of Mathematics at Oxford University. He was an insomniac and used to make up maths/word puzzles to get himself to sleep. This is one of those..

I knew there had to be something that wasn't a number sequence and while thinking what is bigger than x, thought back to mcanuff having a go with 0. 0 isn't nearer to 10 than 10, but nothing is nearer to 10 than 10.

Well that is clever. "nothing" is nearer to 10 than 10. takes some abstract thinking that one! (Mad hatter's) hat off to you, Stuk.

Three men are walking down the road when suddenly they remember it's their mate's birthday. They all only have $10 each (In Australia I don't have the pound symbol)and put this together and go window shopping. At a tobacconist they see a beautiful pipe on special for only $30 so they go in and buy it. As they're walking down the road with their mate's prezzy, in the shop, the manager comes out from the back and asks the salesman how much he sold the pipe for. "$30" he says. Q: How much did each man eventually end up spending? Q: What are 3 X 9? Q: How much did the salesman pocket? Q: What's $2 + $27? BIG Q: Where is the other dollar???

I think my granddad tried it on me in the 60's! The original $30 sale price has been replaced by the sale price of $25 and is now a complete "red herring".
