Apropos Mateta, I have been under the impression that he joined on an 18 month loan deal for a loan fee of £2.7 Mill with a fee of £13.5 Mill required if the deal is made permanent after 15 starts.

Wikipedia says "reportedly" and quotes an article in The Atletic, which when read doesn't mention anything about 15 games

All I can say about Mateta from the friendly with Ipswich Town is; he was sluggish and looked as if couldnt find the net if it were 4ft wider and 6 ft higher?

At least v. Ipswich he was getting into good positions. However he showed a huge lack of composure - possibly trying too hard to impress the new boss ! Needs to radically improve if he wants to get a starting place.

Mateta has looked shattered in the training vids I’ve watched. Perhaps he is slightly behind the others in terms of fitness right now.

Surely Benteke will play ahead of Mateta anyway? I understand that some clubs are giving longer leave periods to players involved in international summer tournaments (apparently Kane won't feature for Spurs for the first few weeks of the season) but Benteke didn't play a minute for Belgium and I'd expect him to be available for selection soon.
