I think some of the people who believe in open borders are genuinely nice people. They want a better world and opportunities for all.....In a way I see their arguments the same way I view those who would ban abortion across the board (a decision I hold for myself but not others) and support nuclear unilateralism. These are not bad people....essentially it's dreamer idealism that takes no account of human nature. It's the 'All you need is love' and 'Imagine' stuff in Beatle songs.....It discounts reality....It's the playground without the bully.

I try to look at life objectivity and not pander to popular and cuddly positions which....when viewed objectivity result in worldviews I can't support.....But I understand that these are worldviews and not inherently right or wrong by themselves.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions......But what you might view as hell and what I might are probably two different things.

He said it in a letter to the left wing 'Partisan Review' in 1944. The main point of the letter was him explaining how he got some things wrong in previous letters to the review before and during the war - honest analysis as usual with George. As well as the quote already cited, the letter also has:
