Irrespective of Ferguson earning a tidy sum for not actually having played a game, for his own benefit in later life and the health issues attached to his ongoing injury problems, he ought seriously start to think about another profession. The club has done as much as it could to rehabilitate him but it is clear that it has reached the point that to offer him another contract would be extremely foolhardy. Have to feel sorry for Ferguson but enough is enough . We need to find replacements both for Ward and Clyne, sadly he's not it.

It's a shame for the lad and for the club but that's life.

He must be going for the full set of serious injuries. I would imagine as others have said, this is the last straw. The man is as brittle as sugar glass. Shame really but he’s had more than enough time to find any sort of fitness.

Just checked the EPL Injury Table & Roy has stated he has a "serious muscle tear" & will be out for rest of season & into the summer. His contract expires 30th June.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I would offer him a 1 year pay per play contract. If he can somehow get himself fit for after that well then give him a proper contract.

Get him a train ticket out of Selhurst and say goodbye and good luck. He is an absolute drain on the club and there’s no time for sentiments.

If he could have had two or three months of solid second-team football to end this season, I'd have offered him a fair, one-year deal to prove he was fully back. But not now. We didn't, in the end, pay that much for him after the tribunal and it's simply time to move on. Perhaps we could drop him back at the Hawthorns on the way to Wolves tomorrow night. It wouldn't require a detour. Edited by sydtheeagle (24 Apr 2023 7.47pm)

Phantom footballer! It's very sad, but it looks as if he's had it.
