For me it's Peter Taylor without a doubt. We played the dullest football in memory, team had no pace or desire. style of play was long ball. He was the biggest disappointment....I know some people don't like Pardew but he galvanised the squad after Warnock and got us to the cup final. Pardew just runs out of steam wherever he goes, but definitely not the worst manager we've had.

Here's a short clip of what Mullery was already like just a few years before 1975 when it all really kicked off after the replay between us and them at Stamford Bridge.

Our Brighton rivalry has some true spirit in it, and isn't as prosaic as being because they're next door. We were rivals before Mullery was appointed as Palace manager

We were rivals before Mullery was appointed as Palace manager yes, but it was the mutual hatred between him and Venables which kicked it off while he was at Brighton

How can you hate Warnock? He was great for us first time and came in second time as a stop gap until pardew. Pulis performed one of the closest things to a football miracle in keeping us the season before. I appreciate Warnock turned up at short notice but, after ending he previous season on a high, it turned into a shambles with two months. Everyone else was to blame, especially refs. We lost all sense of defensive organisation. I couldn’t believe how quickly we deteriorated.

Trevor Francis almost gets my vote, for turning an exciting team into mediocrity and buying the obvious waste of space known as Akinbiyi. But, the winner is by a country mile...........Alan Smith. He was crap first time around, and then got a completely undeserved second chance where he was even worse. Should never be allowed anywhere near Palace again. Not old enough to remember Mullery unfortunately,

Muller a very close second to Venables. An absolute rouge in my opinion. Absolutely took us to the cleaners twice and walked away.
Curly eagles dad, 45 years of Palace. Never ever a dull moment, Oh Happy Days |

Trevor Francis for me. He was our most uninspiring choice of manager I can remember. Other managers, like El Tel, Bruce, and Dowie were people I learnt to hate over time. I disliked Francis from the start.

Disliked and worst manager are two different subjects but some could fall into both list. As for managers leaving us for another team, that seems to happen time and time again for some reason and there are two sides to every story but the truth never seems to come out. Venables leaving the first time was always going to happen due to his relationship with QPR & Jim Gregory and I seem to recall that Ray Bloye was instrumental in Venables leaving.Although he appears to be the villain the second time round he was ably assisted by Goldberg. Due to his earlier achievements I will leave him out along with people who's only failing was their incompetence. This leaves me with in first place by a mile Mullery who was a horrible, bitter creature. Joint second and third is Gradi & Francis closely followed by Burley, all utterly charmless characters who never developed any affinity with the club or supporters.

Noades admitted to someone that he made a mistake appointing Gradi. Not sure if he said this publicly.
