this season was his 'one last chance'. A crucial component of being a professional sportsman is remaining fit. He has been injured for the first 2/3 of the season and has played 0 minutes of first team football. This is not a one off his injury record over the previous 5 years has been poor, even taking into account the ACL injury, which clearly wasn't his fault. Time to cut our losses. Good post, totally agree.

Disagree. He offers goals and attacking threat when fit. Worth giving him one last chance. Hes scored 1 in 5 for us, so as a striker doesn't offer goals.

The club have wasted enough money on him and it would be lunacy to waste any more. Whatever opinions are about his playing ability, there's no denying he is a constant sick note and the risk just isn't warranted.

Isn’t it funny how as his contract is about to expire he’s suddenly fit and raring to go! We can’t afford to be throwing 60k a week away in the forlorn hope he’ll come good I the end (I have shared that sentiment up until this year) but it ain’t going to happen and we need to move on - as we do with all the others who haven’t delivered.

Fair post. Can't argue with any of that. I would just personally give him one more to see what he can do. But understand the counter point of view.

If we are really that skint then it makes more sense to get rid of him, rather than paying him to spend all his time in the treatment room. Also an opportunity to promote a youngster or to give Mateta more game time.
