What did it say?

What did it say? Apparently Croydon Police received complaint about a racist banner. Not racist in my view. I suspect complaint was made by Staveley or her husband, he was seen taking a photo of it.

Think this might have caused a bit of a tension between the two sets of directors when this was unfurled at the start of the match. Can't believe that it was smuggled in so must have been erected with the approval of the club. No. Senior steward explained it was inappropriate in a very adult way and asked for it to be taken down. Too late by then.

Perhaps I'm missing something but not sure how they content of the banner could be construed as racist? Seems very frivolous that it would be even investigated by Croydon Police. They probably have to make a statement to cover themselves before taking no action after speaking to the people in question.

It's a brilliant banner. Well done to those responsible.

Outstanding effort from the HF today. Let's hope it inspires similar in every away ground throughout the season, as well as at home games. The waddling penguin scum are going to have to get used to it. Is it not a magpie? Although I did think it was a penguin at first. Not a big fan of that lot but think they did a brilliant job with this banner. Shocked that I saw more than a few of their fans with Saudi flags near the station.

If every club they visit does this their 'sportswashing' might backfire and draw the attention of a global audience to the atrocities committed. How long before the Premier Arselicking League threatens sanctions against clubs where such banners are displayed?

The sentiment will have support from a lot of people, but you can't blame the fans or players of Newcastle. Who has done this?

Politics has no place in football, whether it is unfurling banners about human rights issues abroad or taking the knee. The sentiment will have support from a lot of people, but you can't blame the fans or players of Newcastle. One is left wondering how the rules on ownership have allowed this to happen. It's hard not to be cynical. I think when people are being killed then I think fans and members of the public have the right to express freedom of speech. Players are employed to play football only. There is clearly something wrong if owners of a football club commit atrocities on people. This is quite different to George Floyd or abuse on Twitter. It should’ve happened when Qatar were awarded the World Cup, but buying a football club with deep rooted history deserves the spotlight.
