If he's coming I'm sure there won't be an announcement until after Bournemouth's home game against Plymouth today. 'Eddie the prospective Eagle' would be focussed on getting three points for AFCB - anything else would be disrespectful to their fans and as fellow football supporters I'm sure we wouldn't want that?

I'm standing in a field somewhere in Kent - home of the 2010 Weald Cup

There are a few negative comments from a small minority of Palace fans.

We are not cut adrift at the bottom of the table and there are still 21 games left to turn our season around.

Our Youth team is flying high and we have an exciting future under proper Palace supporting owners who will provide a solid base for our management and provide funding to strengthen the squad.
Add to that our superb loyal support and you can see that we are not the cash-strapped struggling club that the media paint us out to be, they even have quoted us being second from bottom when we are in fact third from bottom in the Championship table and very close to the teams above us outside the relegation zone.

To sum up we are a much more attractive proposition for a new manager than many other clubs and are in a false league position and very much under-achieving mostly because of our key players have been out through injury until recently.

Our home form is good and an improvement in our dreadful away form will see us pull away from the relegation zone.

There has been more than enough speculation and hope about Howe, and we will just have to wait and see.

However I do feel that Butch Wilkins seems to have been completely overlooked. We don't need a manager at Palace, as all that is done by CPFC2010, what we need is a good coach. Wilkins fits that bill, just look what has happened to Chelsea since he got the boot.

Does is really matter who we get? Not according to this analysis on the BBC!! [Link]

"But does sacking your manager at this time of year lead to an improvement in results? Over the previous five completed seasons 32 managers have been sacked by clubs in the Football League during December and January. On 15 occasions clubs have finished the season in a higher position than when they sacked the manager, while on a further 12 the club in question finished lower. Five times the club finished in exactly the same position.

Of the 32 dismissals, 21 clubs finished the campaign within three places of where they stood in the table when the sacking took place. Not once did a club who sacked their manager to reinvigorate a foundering promotion campaign end the season going up. Five times clubs that sacked their manager while in the relegation zone still went down, but a further seven managed to avoid the drop. Perhaps a change of manager is worth a gamble if you are in the relegation zone when the season reaches its midway point?"

Well that's bollox because Dowie came in in Jan AND we went up.

I agree completely. Sheffield United are a far worse team than us and if I were a blades fan I'd be far more worried than I am now.
And before anyone mentions that they beat us up there I'll point to the fact the referee gave them a pen that was no way a pen and awarded a goal that was a mile offside, meaning we should have won that game 2 1 instead of lost it 3 2.
We are by no means relgated yet. To listen to some of the pessimistic prats on here you'd think we only had 1 game left to save ourselves

If Howe does venture onto these boards, lets hope he reads your post hdeagele and not mine

You are right: we do have a lot going for us and hopefully Howe will have focused on that.

It reads 'Over the previous five completed seasons'. We were not promoted in the previous five completed seasons.

apparently there is a rumour on the bbs that Howe is going to take the Charlton job as they have offered more money.

Will be gutted if true, they really are train spotting c*nts and hope they stay in league one
