He would be daft to leave bournmouth where he is building a name. I don't honestly believe he will take this gamble at his age. Not worth it. We need a good experienced manager. I would love Roy hodgson and I actually think he would consider us at his age beings that palace is where his career began.

Well said. I agree!

Just watched the Eddie Howe interview on their website. Must say, he seemed very subdued as well as emotional.

Yes it looked like he was holding back the tears. Do you think that suggests that he's on his way out? It's so hard to tell. Something is clearly not right between him and his chairman although it wold be an extremely difficult move for him.

I suppose we will just have to wait and see. The fact that this thread has grown to almost the size of the Steve Parish Q&A thread shows how much support he would get if he did come. Perhaps it would have been easier if he had been at Bournemouth longer, I don't know.

Howe reminds me a bit of Sir Steve in that he is loyal, intelligent and has a similar interview manner. I think will always have success in football management and good luck to him whatever his decision.

Exactly

Looks like he is coming to terms with his working life turning from a passionate vocation of saving and then improving his beloved Bournemouth into the fact he is a valuable, sought after, professional football manager.

Eddie, stop the agony! If its not Palace there will be ten more clubs after you before the end of the year tearing you apart with their tempting offers. Join us now! We are perfect for you.

He needs to move to further his career I feel.

Bournemouth are probably a great club for him, he obviously loves it there but ultimatly when the chairman keeps selling your best players you are pissing into the wind. They are obviously in financial difficulty so he wouldn't be screwing them over. They need the money, we need a manager.

Needs to happen sooner rather than later.

My guess is that he will decide to join Palace. It would be the next logical step in his managerial career. We're by no means in a terrible position in the league (just a point from safety) and have owners who, unlike the chairman of AFCB, will back him to the hilt.

And I feel that he definitely won't join Charlton. The guy is just too smart to go to join a club rivalling AFCB for promotion. That is one thing I feel the Bournemouth fans would not forgive him for.

Yeah that's a good point with regards to Charlton.

My only concern about him is that he knows Bournemouth inside out, and that probably plays a large part to his success there, will be interesting to see how he gets on when he placed in a different environment and new resources to him.

Getting the best out of your players is obviously a great quality though, and hopefully that'll rub off on our players if he decides to come.

If Howe shot a Bournemouth's fan's Gran for a bit of a laugh he'd still be forgiven! That said, I doubt very much he'd go to Charlton. Their owners are very much unknown, sacked a manager when they're challenging for promotion and the club itself suffers from delusions of grandeur.

On the other hand the vast majority of Palace fans recognise we are where we are because of a terrible year just gone and will give Howe plenty of time to establish himself. Hopefully even the idiotic Burley-boo boys will realise we have a potential gem at the club if he does join and won't hound him out as they did with George.

Howe is clearly is 50/50 about joining and it is so refreshing to see a manager who is clearly loyal towards his club. He'll never love us like he loves them but over time he'll gain a great affection for Palace too as we're a great club. I'm saying that objectively without a hint of bias!

My feeling is that he'll be our manager by Monday morning. Hope so, he comes across as an intelligent and decent man.

I really think this could be the start of something big for us if he joins. Never cared so much about the appointment of a new manager before.

Excited when Bruce came, scared when Francis came, wary when Warnock came, for example, but never to this degree. None of these played out how i saw it, however there's just something about Howe from his demeanour that makes my gut feel he could be a Palace legend.

None of the other names mentioned for the job fill me with any excitement, Palace connections or not.
I look forward to the "Howe Out" chants after our unlucky defeat to Boro in a "6 pointer" at the start of Feb.
The good news is that betting seems to of been suspended again on Eddie. Although, this morning Skybet had Phil Brown at 33/1 as our next manager despite him being appointed Preston boss the night before so possibly means nothing.

Bollocks to this. If he doesn't want to come, let him stay with Bournemouth. In our position, we need someone who's going to be 100% committed to Palace, not a wet blanket looking over his shoulder with a teary eye wondering what he's left behind and getting all emotional instead of knuckling down and getting on with the job of keeping us up.

"I am anguished. People say it's a nice position to be in but it doesn't feel that way - I'm very torn. In some respects I'd rather not have the problem.
"Then you see the players perform like that and it makes it even harder - you see their commitment, attitude - I can't fault any of them. They are more than just a group of players - they feel like family as well. They've never let me down, not once.
"I've got a decision to make over the next few days and it's one I know I have to make. It's definitely not going to be easy."

FFS, grow a pair and make your decision Eddie...it's just a football management job, not the f*cking United Nations. Spare us the emotional pain and anguish please, it's making me feel sick, if you don't want the job that's fine, just let us know and our boys will choose someone else. You're not the f*cking messiah, if you love the Cherries so much then stay there, we'll get someone else!
