Great post thanks for latting us know.

Jacko is the all time best Palace keeper.

Great picture of John McCormick and The Lawman with Jacko too.

A new era of total football is on the way to Selhurst Park!!

Does anybody remember Jacko's two performances in home games against Manchester City in our first spell in the top flight: The last game of 69/70 Roger Hoy scored the only goal after approx 20 minutes but them Jacko kept City out almost single handed thereafter.
Early in 72/73 we had an evening game at home to City and Jacko saved a penalty from Francis Lee.
Superb goalkeeper and my early Palace hero - until Don
Rogers came along!

I rate JJ as a Palace great, but where does he rank as Palace's best goalkeeper ?
After all we have been God Blessed with some great goalies !Rouse, Glazier (aptly named),Martyn, and of course our latest great Speroni

Before Jacko I would say that Bailey, Rouse and Glazier were the best I had seen. Bill Glazier made way for Jacko and I recall Bill saying that Ronnie Allen considered Jacko the superior of the two, which he felt, played a part in his departure.

Without doubt our time in the top flight would have been cut short a lot earlier had it not have been for Jacko.

No mention of any goalie post 1970's - Eagle in Cornwall?
Jacko was probably my favourite, folowed by Nigel Martyn.
Does anyone remember an incident in a cup game against Chelsea? 60/70's When McCormick ducked under a ball after hearing a call of "John's ball" or similar (from Peter Osgood)and Ossie put the ball past John Jackson ?

I was on topic with the Jackson era but if you want I can speak about Suckling, Burridge or perhaps Miller, (no best not talk about him).

After Jackson I rate Martyn, saw him in his first game for us and his purchase was considered a good move by the the board at the time, as his transfer fee could have been recovered if we were relegated but that's another story.

Jules would be way up there with them if he handled crosses better but he's one of the best shot stoppers I've seen!

For some reason, Palace have invariably been blessed with really excellent goalkeepers. Where is JJ nowadays?

Over here, years ago, I played against a 'keeper named Frank Haffey, does anyone remember his unwanted claim to fame?

One final comment, seeing that picture with Dennis Law in it, I vaguely remember him in a match spontaneously catching a ball that came to him awkwardly with both hands and then immediately playing on as if nothing untoward had occurred, does anybody else recollect this occurrence or is it my memory playing tricks?

What's the latest on Poppa?

If my memory serves me right didn't Jacko save a Francis Lee penalty at home to Man City ? I would have to agree that as much as I love Speroni Jacko was number 1
