Not the best quality video but one of my all time favourite Palace away days. Those that were there that day will know what i mean.

Remember it well Bubbs - never seen this though

I would guess it was a City video given how pissed off the commentator is and about 'justice being done' before Paul Stewart misses his pen

Yes, it's a City club vid and the commentator was well pi*sed off. A friend of mine got in touch with City and got the video as a gift for me, as on returning from that game i didn't talk about anything else for about 2 months.

About 200 of us and 25,000 City fans scaling the fences and baying for Cockney blood. Brilliant! The police had to keep us behind for ages for our own protection. When finally we were about to be escorted out of the ground, the sargeant said to us: 'Right lads, if i were you i wouldn't say a word when we get out of here.'

If I remember right we cabbed it from Piccadilly to the ground and then as we came out they had those land rovers they used in Norn Iron with the petrol bomb skirts and wire mesh windscreens - Maine Road was always a blast

One of my favourite Palace away days.

We were kept in for ages afterwards. Plenty of stones and bricks being thrown over the wall at us.

Can't remember for the life of me how we got out of there, and back to the station alive.

Jeez, 25 years ago and seems like yesterday. At the time a bunch of us spotty teenagers went to every game home and away. Remember thinking that I wanted Man City to equalize at one point so that we could get home alive. If memory serves me right in the game before they had beaten Huddersfield 10-1 and we didn't travel with much expectation.
Some of us had gone into the terracing in the corner, then a kindly steward let us into the seats behind the goal. That's why the first few rows look empty,we were all up the back of the stand.
Seem to recall chants of your going home like 'Sandy Richardson' ringing round the ground!

25 years ago I was 21. Went to every game that season home and away.
Some of you older supporters may remember me, i was always with my mate the Willie Thorne look-a-like.

Who would of thought that 25 years down the line, I'm now a GrandFather.
Where does the time go?

I'm sure the 10-1 game was a month prior to us going there.

Happy days though

Bubbs, you are truly a Prince amongest men. Great memories. I was behind the goal for Redfern's penalty. They had scored 10 in one game and 8 in another leading up to this match. A City fan who got on the train at Stockport told us we wouldn't be able to live with them. After the game we were kept in until about 5.15, when we were finally put on buses back to the station. I remember my mate Gary moaning that it was too early into December to be singing'Jingle Bells, o what fun it is to see Palace win away!
