4-4 draw just after New Year in 87/88.

4-2 up at half time with Wright running riot.

2nd half, George Wood decides to pass the ball to a Leicester player who duly puts it into the back of the net. Before you know it, it's 4-4.

It was the straw the broke the camels back and poor old Georgie was put out of his misery and we signed Perry Suckling.

Remember Wright literally snarling at Wood even minutes after his mistake. There was obviously history there as we learnt from his book.

I was at that game with a Leicester supporter. At Half-time I said to him words to the effect "At this rate it could end up 4-4" !!!!!

And yes I vividly recall the blunder by 'George Wood' !

Didn't we go there in '89 needing a win to avoid the play offs?

I recall Palace had a huge firm at the back of the away end that day (which was a s***e hole) and at the bottom of the exit stairs into the street, there was a large blue gate with hundreds of Leicester thugs on the other side, goading us at the end of the game.

As the threats got lively, some idiot pushed the gate which then magically opened, and into our end poured hundreds of Leicester fans.

not that I condone hooliganism, but it was a great day out after that...

First of the gang with a gun in his hand....
