We pay an additional Ł1m if we stay up; that's a lot if he is only considered good enough for 3 games. You do not pay those sorts of monies for a loanee unless he is capable of hitting the ground running from the off and carrying on that form to the end. While you may say he has repaid the money with the baggies game alone, it is not difficult to have some sympathy for those who think Ł2m plus a hefty wage for just one decent game - did we not deserve more? For my part, I hope we get the points we need quickly so Ince can play the final 3/4 games with little risk to the club's future; that he shines bright; and we sign a superb player on a permanent basis who goes on to be a club legend. may I ask, how do we know what we paid for Ince and what 'hefty' wage he's on? I'm not sure what silvertop is on about, he will be on the wage that was agreed in his contract with Blackpool, that's the rules. The rumours are that we paid a Ł1m loan fee and I've never heard anything about a additional Ł1m fee (paid to whom, I don't know)if we stay up. I did read that we are paying for his accommodation at Canary Wharf, which is fair enough.

To be fair to the negative posters, he was not signed on as an investment. You cannot apply the Joniesta argument for this one. The club paid Ł1m and a hefty wage bill for the privilege of having him on loan for only FOURTEEN games. We pay an additional Ł1m if we stay up; that's a lot if he is only considered good enough for 3 games. You do not pay those sorts of monies for a loanee unless he is capable of hitting the ground running from the off and carrying on that form to the end. While you may say he has repaid the money with the baggies game alone, it is not difficult to have some sympathy for those who think Ł2m plus a hefty wage for just one decent game - did we not deserve more?

Have I accidentally walked into "Pedant's Corner"? Have you both missed the substantive point? Even if the additional Ł1m payment is wrong [sorry if so, I read that somewhere and accepted it as fact] paying a Ł1m premium for a loanee for only 14 games suggests that he should be of a standard to play all or the bulk of those 14 games - either starting or coming on as a scary impact sub. While I accept the need to rotate, that is not this manager's want. Had he been of the standard he was hyped up to be, he would have been one of those who play every week. He isn't; and hasn't been.

No but your facts are incorrect as I've pointed out which doesn't really substantiate your argument, as I said in a post above, it's a squad game and he has regularly featured in the squad, so he fulfilled the signing criteria. IMO if he was to sign a contract with us next year, I'd like to see him here, a good prospect.

No but your facts are incorrect as I've pointed out which doesn't really substantiate your argument, as I said in a post above, it's a squad game and he has regularly featured in the squad, so he fulfilled the signing criteria.

IMO if he was to sign a contract with us next year, I'd like to see him here, a good prospect.

I think that he might be better suited to next season when we can perhaps start off the season a bit more adventurous in style. Thing is, him being largely on the bench lately is doing us no harm whatsoever with our chances of signing him permanently. I would think other potential suitors are now looking and thinking he's not good enough to start for us and perhaps losing interest as a result. If we're selling this loan move to Ince in the right way (e.g. to acclimatize him), then hopefully he'll have that in mind if we do decide to make a move with a permanent switch in the summer. And as said by others, if that Ł1m has actually given us a chance to decide to miss out on an over-hyped player (if that what is deemed the case by the management come season end) then surely that is better than paying Ł10m-odd for a flop?

I think that he might be better suited to next season when we can perhaps start off the season a bit more adventurous in style. Thing is, him being largely on the bench lately is doing us no harm whatsoever with our chances of signing him permanently.

I would think other potential suitors are now looking and thinking he's not good enough to start for us and perhaps losing interest as a result. If we're selling this loan move to Ince in the right way (e.g. to acclimatize him), then hopefully he'll have that in mind if we do decide to make a move with a permanent switch in the summer.

And as said by others, if that Ł1m has actually given us a chance to decide to miss out on an over-hyped player (if that what is deemed the case by the management come season end) then surely that is better than paying Ł10m-odd for a flop?

Is it just a coincidence that Puncheon's form and effort has picked up massively since Ince's arrival? With the goals he's scoring at the moment that would be worth the money even if Ince doesn't play for us again.
