I thought it was great getting him and hoped he would be used as an impact sub - to step up and fight a relegation battle in a higher league is a big ask - but he had the hype to go with it.

It hasn't worked out, yet.. but let's be honest, look at Bolaise, KG, Gayle and even Williams at the start of this season - he needs game time.

It's a great learning curve though - hopefully he will learn to talk when spoken to and say what is required - he often spook highly of himself and told the 'lads he expects to be booed at swansea' no sh*t sherlock.
He will hopefully learn to bulk up, earn his spot.

Having said that, he will probably go abroad

Three points earned against relegation rivals look good to me . And as said in previous post Pulis will use him as and when required,

I agree with both of your posts, MKCPFC.

He's started 3 games, one of which he was extremely impressive, how can anyone say whether or not he is ready etc? You don't know?

People are quick to right off players on this site - I spent the majority of the season backing Puncheon saying although a little frustrating at times, he has more quality then a lot of players in the squad, look at him now?

Tom Ince could be huge and you cannot judge someone on the base of 3 games.

Give the guy a chance ffs!

To be fair to the negative posters, he was not signed on as an investment. You cannot apply the Joniesta argument for this one. The club paid £1m and a hefty wage bill for the privilege of having him on loan for only FOURTEEN games. We pay an additional £1m if we stay up; that's a lot if he is only considered good enough for 3 games. You do not pay those sorts of monies for a loanee unless he is capable of hitting the ground running from the off and carrying on that form to the end. While you may say he has repaid the money with the baggies game alone, it is not difficult to have some sympathy for those who think £2m plus a hefty wage for just one decent game - did we not deserve more?

For my part, I hope we get the points we need quickly so Ince can play the final 3/4 games with little risk to the club's future; that he shines bright; and we sign a superb player on a permanent basis who goes on to be a club legend.

may I ask, how do we know what we paid for Ince and what 'hefty' wage he's on?

I'm not sure what silvertop is on about, he will be on the wage that was agreed in his contract with Blackpool, that's the rules. The rumours are that we paid a £1m loan fee and I've never heard anything about a additional £1m fee (paid to whom, I don't know)if we stay up. I did read that we are paying for his accommodation at Canary Wharf, which is fair enough.

Have I accidentally walked into "Pedant's Corner"? Have you both missed the substantive point? Even if the additional £1m payment is wrong [sorry if so, I read that somewhere and accepted it as fact] paying a £1m premium for a loanee for only 14 games suggests that he should be of a standard to play all or the bulk of those 14 games - either starting or coming on as a scary impact sub. While I accept the need to rotate, that is not this manager's want. Had he been of the standard he was hyped up to be, he would have been one of those who play every week. He isn't; and hasn't been.

He has not been signed as one for the future [see the post I responded to] as he is only a loanee for less than half a season. Thus, comments like "give him a chance" are ones we can apply to Gayle and Joniesta; not Ince. Thus, people have a right to be disappointed.

However, if we took him on loan on the basis that he would either be sensational from day one or we would be better placed to pitch for him on a permanent deal while in situ, then the deal doesn't have the appearance of a flop.

The way the 8 games have panned out so far, he has not had the opportunity to be used by TP as an IMPACT SUB.
The simplest thing to do as MKCPFC said, is leave it to the Maestro Pulis.
He seems to know more than us lot.

Sky reporting that Pulis wants permanent signing:

[Link]

"Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis has admitted he would like to sign Tom Ince on a permanent deal in the summer.

Palace won the race to sign Ince on loan from Blackpool in January and he made a big impact on his debut, netting a goal in a 3-1 win over West Brom.

The young winger has been forced to wait patiently for first-team appearances in recent weeks, but Pulis remains keen to secure his services if Palace stay in the Premier League.

"He's one that we'll look at once things are done," said Pulis.

"I'd love to sit down and get something done with him because I think he's a top player.

"Tom has been absolutely fantastic. He will be a top Premier League player, without a shadow of a doubt. He's got all the attributes and everything else.

"The unfortunate thing is that in the position Tom plays, Jason Puncheon has been outstanding and Yannick Bolasie's been outstanding."

The Eagles boss believes the 22-year-old has benefitted from his time at Selhurst Park, despite spending a number of games on the sidelines.

"His attitude in training has been fantastic, and the players have taken to him as well," said Pulis.

"I think that's great credit to Tom. I think it's a part of his career that he will look back on and take a lot of stuff from.

"It's not gone to plan in respect of him playing every game but his attitude has been fabulous.""

I remember Ince himself saying that he'd found it a big step up physically and he did look a bit lightweight the times I have seen him. He needs time to adjust. if Pulis thinks he can be a top player then I'm not going to argue with him. You need competition in all positions, Puncheon and Bolassie won't stay fit and in form forever. It's about building the quality of the squad this Summer.

If you look at Punch & Bolassie's form I would say they have stepped up a notch and been more consistant since Ince signed. That in itself is easily worth the money spent.

Also if we did pay a £1million loan fee it is nothing considering Ince's wages will be a pittance (for the PL)

Quite surprising comment seeing the lack of game time hes had recently. Perhaps it signals a change of tactics for next season. This year has been all about staying up but next season TP may feel we can be a bit more expansive. His old man said on MOTD that he fully understands why he's not playing while the team are winning. Looks like a good attitude

I think he's got something to offer and would be good value. Too many opinions are based on 8 games or whatever it is. Far too soon to be written off. The fact he's under-whelmed works in our favour as it's driven his value dow, thus making him a more likely venture.

Would love Zaha too. Likewise, I think the criticism he's received is insanely short-sited. Neither of these two we're going to step up in a single season. Give them 18 months of consistent appearances, however, and potential will begin to flourish. Look at Puncheon! How many wanted rid a few months back?
