I know a lot is made of this and we have heard it so many times over the years but I really do think this is the time we will finally kick on.

We have a great squad who seem to want to fight for the club and have so much time for the fans and a manager who knows what he is doing with every decision he makes.

TP realised the potential Stoke had and made them grow into a solid premier league side who made it into Europe as well as a FA Cup Final.

I firmly believe he is the man to take us to the same heights and hopefully further!

I agree If we do stay up this year I don't reckon we will be anywhere near relegation next year. Not second season syndrome but just because Pulis wont have it any other way.

I think he will need a lot of reassurance that he will be able to develop a squad over 3-4 years that fits his ethos . If we stay up the first thing he will do is ask for money and if he doesn't get what he wants he will be off. This close season will set the shape of the way the squad will be for a few years to come. Have confidence in TP and the board that they can persuade the sort of quality we need to come to us.
Who was it that we targeted who went to Fulham? Serves him right.

Personally think we need another cb another solid cm and another striker and by that I mean experienced premiership quality, not some young wanna be or old has been, in the closed season. Yes it will mean spending some cash but if we want to progress its the way forward IMO. Then we can really push on to mid table happiness and good cup run. Or am I being greedy.

I believe the short list was something like this:

Aitor Karanka - Middlesbrough (13th in Championship, 6 points behind the mighty Bournemouth)
Rene Meulensteen - er, where the f*** is he? Being mental somewhere, maybe motivating a pub team by persuading them they're wild animals or something
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - not sure what happened to him.

I wanted all three ahead of Pulis. I am a f***ing bell end.

Then there was Chris Coleman, Iain Dowie...

I was thinking the same thing too and I havent felt as good about the future since the days of John Jackson and Stevie Kember.

I feel funny because instead of looking at relegation I am now asking myself if we can finish 11th or 10th. So maybe Im getting carried away.

I am not sure what I am aspiring to, I dont want to be a super club with a moneybags owner and spoilt players. But do I want to be a Stoke, Swansea? I think on balance probably! I cant see another model that suits what I think Palace have been about.

TP on the subject:

CRYSTAL Palace boss Tony Pulis has touched on the enormous potential the club has in south London to attract big crowds week in, week out at Selhurst Park.

Having worked previously in an area that had around 300,000 people while at Stoke City, the boss believes Palace don’t have to be in the Premier League to attract the big crowds and that further work elsewhere within the club can make them a big attraction.

And Pulis has hailed the club’s supporters, describing them as “wonderful” in playing their part to help the Eagles grow even bigger.

He said: “You look at south London and you think the club should be carrying the flag. If you do that, it’s just such a massive area.

Assuming we stay up, i think a stable and structured pre-season will be so important as well. It was well documented we were weeks behind in so many aspects on and off the pitch at the start of the season, so if we can add players early, rather than trying build a new squad with last minute deals, have a more competitive set of pre-season games, a fine tuned game plan which TP will definitely have and the time saved not having to update all our facilities to just accommodate the premier league, going into next season we'll surely be able to start of so much better.

Good points well made. The play off winners have a very late start and have to make decisions too quickly. Attracting players to the club was so difficult when we were seen as certainties for the drop. Hopefully we will be in a much stronger position.

Don't we have to put undersoil heating in if we stay up? That will be expensive

Sure the financial rewards of staying in the PL will cover the cost of the under-soil heating - and still leave a few quid for TP to spend !
