Claridge.

f***ing Claridge.

Never seeing Palace win at Ashton Gate. Always get beat or throw away a lead. Couldn't even make a fist of it in the Carling Cup. Lots of my friends are City fans and I never get any peace.

What's your most painful memory as a Palace fan?
-------------------

Physical pain:

Back in the 70's I was 10yrs old and standing at the front of the Holmesdale with my partially sighted grandfather at THAT game on THAT night against Burnley.
Obviously with the importance of the game, he knew there'd be a pitch invasion so he told me that the moment the final whistle went, to jump over and curl into a ball by the hoarding and don't move until he told me too while everyone get's onto the pitch.
'OK gramps' I said and done as was told when the game was over.
All I can remember is being trodden on for 10 bloody mins by big men with dodgy 'taches lol!!! But in the heat of the moment and the excitement it didn't hurt.......................but boy was I aching the next day

Emotional pain:

Many to choose from over the years but the goal by Claridge tops it for me.
That really hurt.

I was absolutely gutted.

Plenty, but one that still wrankles is the Cup Semi in 76 and it still hurts today - My 9 year old self genuinely thought we were going to win the FA Cup

Sash i had a £1 WIN on us at 250-1.!!!!
From the First Round.
Saw all the games in that Cup Run.

Alan I went to every game in that cup run,but my mind is playing tricks with me.
Did we play Scarboro in the first round?

No Walton & Hersham then Millwall.

See attached.

FA Cup final replay as our chance had come and gone, it still burns that in winning the cup that jock c*** kept his.

93 relegation, f*** knows how oldham did that......just look at them now though !

relegation at charls*** happened on a mates birthday. I couldnt get a ticket to go and kept checking the radio now and again. Needless to say i ruined his bbq by getting pissed and sulking loudly !

There's been so many for me....losing to Bristol City in the play-offs after Ben Watson had missed a penatly for us that would of seen us go to Wembley.

Charlton relegating us in 2005.

Although we did end up surviving on the last day at Hillsborough I will always remember the previous game at home to West Brom where if we won we would of been safe. I think it was 1-1 and Ambrose had a shot in the last minute that got saved of the line by a defender and meaning we had to go to the last game of the season not knowing if we would survive. Walking out the ground I felt sick and nervous at how close we had just come....but then again Hillsborough was one of the best days being a Palace fan so who would change it now!

blimey i forgot about that.

I need a little help with mine, as I cannot remember the year!

It was Crystal Palace v. Birmingham....I think we scored and then I remember a huge amount of Birmingham supporters invading the pitch and taunting the palace faithful. I was only in my early teens and got the fright of my life! Worse still, a few blokes pushed me out of the way to try and get to the Birmingham fans. They dislocated my shoulder in the process. Yes, a painful memory!

Steven Reid saved it on the line.

Danns got the stupidest red card in that game too, always thought he was a d!ck since that game, totally let us down!

On a side note, I have the match ball from this game at home.

Arsenal '93 probably the worse for me. I remember standing on the terraces at Highbury at half time, desperately trying to conceal from my mate the fact that tears were streaming down my face; just couldn't stop them. I know it was only 1-0 at that point, but I think the reality of it suddenly hit me. Up until then, despite knowing it was a possibility, never truly believed that so many things could conspire against us for it to happen.

The FA Cup Final replay hurt bad too at the final whistle, but I think the pain was more sadness that we'd come to the end of a most wonderful, once in a lifetime trip.

As others have said, Charlton, Leicester, QPR Qtr Final, Higginbotams last gasp equaliser.....

Going into administration in 2010 was not the best night I've had supporting us either. Remember phoning Sky up as my box had buggered up somehow. Anyway, the woman on the other end talked me through getting it back up and running again. Thanked her, all happy that I could get my football fix again. Flicked straight to Sky Sports News and BAM! Streamer at the bottom announced, 'Crystal Palace placed into administration'.
