Anyone know the earliest we could potentially be mathematically safe?

Wednesday, if we beat Everton, we would still need 2 points to mathematically safe.

So, earliest is next Saturday.

It is Saturday but as Fulham have an early ko v Spurs it could be before Palace start their match on Saturday.

I worked this same thing out yesterday and the flip to it is for them to overtake us assuming we don't get another point all season...

Sunderland can only afford drop 5 points
Cardiff can only drop 3 points
Fulham can only drop 4 points
Norwich can only afford to drop 6

So as soon as those teams 'drop' those points then we are safe...and what we do is irrelevant

Norwich, WBA and even Swansea are looking vulnerable to the bottom three a hell of a lot more than we are...who would have thought that in August

You did Sir, I noticed. And very well put too

Quote PALACE FOR EVER at 13 Apr 2014 11.50am

For the bottom four clubs they need the following to get more points than Palace.

Sunderland (GD is 10 worse than ours) 13 points from 6 games.
Cardiff (GD is 19 worse than ours) 9 points from 4 games.
Fulham (GD is 25 worse than ours) 8 points from 4 games.
Norwich (GD is 12 worse than) 6 points from 4 games.

You also have to realise there is one match where two are playing each other, Sunderland v Cardiff.

Sunderland need 5 wins or 4 wins & 1 draw.
Cardiff need 3 wins.
Fulham need 3 wins or 2 wins & 2 draws.
Norwich need 2 wins or 1 win and 3 draws.
and of course Palace have to lose all 5 of there matches.

Perhaps Sunderland may only require 12 points to finish above Palace as they could finish with a better GD, which is of course 4 wins.

Remember our GD would be worse if we don't pick up another point.... but for the record I can't see six teams getting past us....

All assuming that we don't pick up any more points which is highly unlikely.

Oldham still hurts so I'm not jumping on the bandwagon just yet, but I'm quietly confident that we've got our best chance ever of staying up.

And I see signs of half remembered days, I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways
