Lombardo technically the best player I've seen pull on a Palace shirt, loyalty goes to Cannon, lethality Wright and combativeness Thomas but Jedi is the only one of the first team squad that comes close to the squad that finished 3rd, Speroni has improved in his time massively but still not in same league as Martyn, I do think however given a season or 2 in one position at the top level Ward could go further in the game.

Come on the Palace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say it's the best squad
by a long way.

What I would say is though, it's the most settled and focused the club has been for at least twenty years.

Since the likes of Wright and Bright left, and Goldberg bought the club, we've just kind of floated on the ambitions of chairmen and ridden a rollercoaster of hopes, dreams, failures and near-misses.

For the past 4 years, we've had a set of owners that are ambitious, yet shrewd, practical and unrelenting in their goal in maintaining this club's stability and financial longevity.

However we got here, we are here, and for the first time in my life time at least, we've had a manager come in, grab the entire club by the scruff of the neck and told it to stop ******* about. We are all pulling in the same direction, we are all on the same bus and we are united in our ambition and passion for the club. The players have pretty much bought into TP's ideals instantly, and with that have grown from strength to strength. First was the defensive organization, and then came the discipline needed to counter effectively, which has resulted in the team being more attacking when we were all wishing for it to be.

The club has had the brains for a few years now, but since TP came along it walks the walk too. The success of the season, and the results we've gained, and subsequently the effort and displays of the players are all intrinsically linked with the identify of the club and the foundations everything is built on.

There are members older and wiser than myself, who can recall the legends of the past, but in my opinion we are in probably the most exciting and optimistic position we have ever been. Everything, from the board, to the manager, to the players, to the fans, are united and looking in the same direction. We must heed patience and remain disciplined and mindful of our past, but the air of optimism is so strong with us all that any lacking of technical ability on the pitch is almost irrelevant.

We've had better individual, and better teams, but we have never, in my eyes, had a healthy or more progressive club than we do now. We walking into unknown territory, and the possibilities are immense. I'm not talking about success on the field necessary, but the foundations of this club can be reinforced so much that the effects could be felt for the next 100 years. If managed correctly of course.

Damn it's exciting, and we are all here together to see where this rabbit hole goes.

Nice post. But...(in bold)

Correct

We are Palace. Not united. That's just common. (Ask the Dr)

That is due to the increased money.

Don't be awkward!

And then at just let's people realize their dreams. Generally, it's those with a grounding and respect for where they came from that can handle a change in fortune. IE CPFC2010 aren't the type to get overly excited about the injection of cash and will remain grounded in the fundamental principles of the last few years. Slowly slowly, catchy monkey and all that.

Yeah. Sorry. I forget I'm an oldie at times like this.

Onwards Palace

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

But neither compare to Jermain Easter and Shefti. Most dangerous strikeforce known to all of the planes landing at Gatwick.

Nothing will ever compare to the sheer footballing genius of Wayne Andrews.

I agree with most of the above posts and believe TP has introduced a discipline and system which combined with the passion of the likes of DD, Jedi, Bolasie, has taken us all by surprise.I too feel most excited and optimistic about the future but I also felt this way back in 1979.But, then we didnt realised the damaging consequences of gambling amongst the players and what some might discribe as dodgy management at many levels!!
I have great respect for CPFC2010 but my fear is that should we survive next season and do as well or better than this season, that some middle eastern billionaire will come along and make an offer that cannot be refused.Whether that would be to the benefit of the club and its long term future, one can only speculate. However, this is a great time to be a Palace supporter and to be enjoyed.

Don't forget the lads who played during admin and heroically saved our Championship status, legends everyone of them. Where would we be now if we had gone down on that day in Sheffield.

Early 90's ?

Martyn, Thorn , Ninja,

Thomas, Gray,

Wright, Bright

3rd. in Top Division

Still my favourite team, though this one is a very close second.

And I see signs of half remembered days, I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways
