What a player, can't remember if his central defensive partner was Big John Mc or Mel Blyth.

What a player, can't remember if his central defensive partner was Big John Mc or Mel Blyth. I think it was mostly John McCormick, wasn't Mel Blyth bubbling under at that time? Also a team with the magnificent John Sewell I do believe. Was Roger Hynd the super hard one that used to sleep on the floor? Seem to remember him having a toothache, so decided to have the majority of his teeth taken out so he wouldn't suffer from toothache again. He didn't take any prisoners that's for sure.

"Animal" as he was politely known on the Holmesdale. Here he is playing for Birmingham against us in 72/3, Iain Phillip, Alan Whittle & Roger's the equally thuggish team-mate John Roberts nearby.

If my memory is correct he was related to Bill Shankley. For younger folk, Shankley was a truly legendry Liverpool manager----their fans were known to kiss his feet.

I spoke to Sewell a few times in recent years, though not for the past 2 or 3. Now running a British goods shop in the States (California, if I remember rightly) with his wife -- teabags and gravy granules; that sort of thing. Fond memories of Palace and happy to talk to a supporter.
