Alright all?

I've joined from a Liverpool site (kopblocks.com) - we're a fairly newish forum that's only been going for a few months. One of the things we've tried to get going is a 'View From That Lot' feature where we get the opinion of whoever our opposition for that week is. Obviously we're facing Palace at the weekend so if you've got a few minutes and don't mind asking a few questions I'd appreciate it!

1. You've made an impressive recovery from a terrible start to the season and already guaranteed your safety - do you think you can consolidate in the Premier League next season or will it be a case of a second season struggle?

2. I've not seen much of Palace this season (outside of occasional Match of the Day highlights) - Tony Pulis got a reputation for being a bit 'agricultural' at Stoke but how has he had Palace playing since he came to you?

3. As it's football's awards season - who are Palace's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year?

4. Who do you see as being Palace's main threats to Liverpool?

5. What are your best and worst memories of Palace vs Liverpool over the years?

6. When I was a kid (80s/early 90s) Palace seemed to have loads of players who ended up moving on and making big careers for themselves at some big clubs (Ian Wright's the obvious one but you seemed to have quite a conveyor belt for a while). If you could get one of your ex-players back in the Palace squad and in their prime today who would you pick and what would they add to today's side?

7. What have you made of Liverpool this season?

8. If you could take any of Liverpool's players for Palace and dump your worst player onto us, who'd be packing their bags and filling the Bugatti's tank for the trips along the M6?

9. Finally, predictions for Monday night?

Thanks in advance for any answers!

1) I think we will finish around 11/12th next season. Will be a much better start than this season.

2) Tactics have been spot on from Pulis! I was worried that we would get boring hoof ball football but it hasn't been like that. There have been the odd game where we have been really boring but we've also played some really nice football and picked up vital points.

3) I would say POTY Speroni, YPOTY Ward.

4) If they play decent then Bolasie and Puncheon. Also Speroni in goal has given us many points this season

5) Many will obviously say the semi final but as I was only 2 I don't remember it.

6) ex player in their prime for me would be AJ don't really remember Wrightt/Bright. AJ in his prime is just what we need up front.

7) You've done well and Suarez has been amazing. (Love your pens tho)

I would take Suarez and you lot can have Jerome. Not our worse player but striker for a striker.

9) 1-1

Just to add I really hope you don't win the league. So many Liverpool shirts coming out now you're doing well and I just can't stand Liverpool fans!!

1) It is hoped Palace will improve on 11th, but we may have been found out and if we secure another season in the prem I think most will be happy.
2) Pulis has surprise many here with the non-route one game that has not been imposed as it was at Stoke. Some very neat mid-field stuff.
3)Joel Ward should get the young player and main award.
5)0-9. (sh) 4-3 Villa park, possibly Palace's best result ever.
4) The whole Palace side. We have no real individuals. Very much a team's team.
6) Ken Samson. A left back is needed now and he was arguably the best ever. Made his debut v L'pool in FA cup at Anfield...0-0.
7) A renaissance.
Moses to us (in fairness, he is one of us), The SS squad would be welcome anywhere. You can have Dobbie, once his loan is over.
9) A hard game. Palace on the day could nick it, especially if 'Pool are nervy, as against Chelski.

Not going to wish you good luck. Just enjoy our old fashioned stadium.

1. I think it depends on our signings this summer. If we can improve the team then I think there will be a lot of teams worse than us I the league next season, but who knows with football.
2. We haven't played as much 'hoofball' as everyone thinks, we've actually played some decent stuff of late.
3. Young POTY - Joel Ward and POTY - Speroni
4. Puncheon and Bolasie
5. Only 17 and have been supporting Palace for about 11 of those years, and as we've been in the championship for most of that, haven't seen many Palace vs Liverpool games. But I imagine a lot of people on here should say the worst memory is when you beat us 9-0.
6. Agree with you - Ian Wright probably would have helped us with our goals coring problem this season.
7. Surprised you've done this well, and would be surprised if you won the title after the result at the week end.
8. No brainer - Take Suarez and would probably give you Moxey.
9. Not sure - depends if we are up for it or not. If not then you'll walk it just like city did on Sunday.

We will be fine, we have Saint Tone and a damn fine management team that is learning all the time.

2. I've not seen much of Palace this season (outside of occasional Match of the Day highlights) - Tony Pulis got a reputation for being a bit 'agricultural' at Stoke but how has he had Palace playing since he came to you? He started out teaching the defense how to defend, which was helpful. More recently we have worked out how to hold the line outside the penalty area and break at speed. If only we had an Ian Rush we would have scored loads of goals

3. As it's football's awards season - who are Palace's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year? This one is tough, the whole team has really stepped up recently. Joel Ward probably for the young player. And probably Jedi or Speroni as top player. Jedi's distribution is often poor but he is a real rock when defending.

4. Who do you see as being Palace's main threats to Liverpool? We don't have a proper goal scorer although Puncheon could get one. One day Bolasie will find his shooting boots. But it's probably just as likely to be a centre half from a set piece, or Joe Ledley. One thing is for sure, our main threat doesn't come from our striker.

5. What are your best and worst memories of Palace vs Liverpool over the years? A no-brainer, best has to be Villa Park and the way after the game many Liverpool fans congratulated us and wished us well. Funnily enough I don't think the 9-0 was too bad, we sang all the way through it. The 0-6 to me was worse.

Possibly our greatest was Jim Cannon but right now we don't really need him. As we need a striker it has to be either Don Rogers or Ian Wright I suppose. Or, as we also need a proper left footer for left back, Ashley Cole (we taught him all he knows) or Kenny Sansom.

7. What have you made of Liverpool this season? Nice to watch you coming good and mostly playing the type of football the others haven't really delivered.

8. If you could take any of Liverpool's players for Palace and dump your worst player onto us, who'd be packing their bags and filling the Bugatti's tank for the trips along the M6? Probably a no-brainer. We need a goal scorer, got any of those? We don't really have a worst player in our starting 11 and we don't see much of the rest of the squad. The first team players all have their moments. Of the main squad I guess it's KG but, despite often looking a bit dodgy, he seems to work well as a part of the team.

9. Finally, predictions for Monday night? Tough one, we were off form a bit against Man City but Yaya was unstoppable too. It could go any way, I guess you have the edge. It depends whether Saint Tone decides to experiment, in which case we will get tonked by you, or whether we get back to the way we played against Chelsea in which case we may just squeeze something out of the game.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Hello Mr Scouser person, from me at least it's welcome.

See my comments above. I should warn you that my views are not representative of the HOL and Palace have been known to go down as well as up.

We'll be aiming for 40 points/17th place. Same as anyone outside the rich 6.

2. I've not seen much of Palace this season (outside of occasional Match of the Day highlights) - Tony Pulis got a reputation for being a bit 'agricultural' at Stoke but how has he had Palace playing since he came to you?

We all worried about it when Pulis came to the club. However, we have played some excellent football at times this season. Yes we average about 35% possession but we do a lot more than a lot of teams with that 35% possession. No long balls, no long throws just great defending and decent attacking play.

3. As it's football's awards season - who are Palace's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year?

Player of the year - Probably Ward or Speroni
Young Player of the year - More difficult, maybe Hiram Boateng as he's worked hard to get near the fringes of the squad.

4. Who do you see as being Palace's main threats to Liverpool?

Jason Puncheon and Yannick Bolasie

5. What are your best and worst memories of Palace vs Liverpool over the years?

Most in here will point to the 1990 9-0 loss and 4-3 win as being the worst and best memories but I was only 4 at the time. I'd say the 2-1 Carling Cup win as best and the 5-0 Carling Cup loss as worst.

If it's only one then it's much tougher as teams were set up in specific ways for them. AJ would need someone to play perfect through ball passes for him like Michael Hughes used to. Ian Wright would need a good strike partner like he had in Bright. Wilf would probably be the one because our team was very recently set up for him.

7. What have you made of Liverpool this season?

They've done much better than anyone could have expected but appear to have blown the title at the last. I think they'll also be expecting an easy game at Palace and could find themselves surprised.

8. If you could take any of Liverpool's players for Palace and dump your worst player onto us, who'd be packing their bags and filling the Bugatti's tank for the trips along the M6?

We'll take Suarez and we'll give you one of the Holloway signings... Jimmy Kebe maybe?

9. Finally, predictions for Monday night?

CPFC 2 - 1 Liverpool

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Dougie Freedman was sent off for Palace v Liverpool in a cup match. Even with 10 men, We still won at a canter.

Then there was a memorable FA Cup semi final - again won by Palace.

By way of balance, 'pool did once beat us in a 9-0 thriller.

Prediction for Monday: 2-2

1. With Pulis we hopefully can consolidate but I'm happy we're even there to struggle, if we do.

2. Organised would be the word I'd use. Concede possession but not goals.

3. Speroni is in with yet another shout, along with Ward and Jedinak. Young player has to be Ward.

4. Steven Gerrard.

5. 4-3 & 9-0 fairly obviously.

6. Lombardo.

7. Far exceeded my expectation. Showed the benefit of not being involved in Europe. Played good football and got the most out of the squad, particularly some of the lesser known players.

8. Suarez, for all his foibles. He's truly world class. For.. I really don't know. Not got any animosity against any of the squad as they've done a job or are doing one. I'd maybe send Paddy up for a good retirement package.

9. Don't tell me that question number wasn't intentional? 2-0.

Optimistic as ever

1. You've made an impressive recovery from a terrible start to the season and already guaranteed your safety - do you think you can consolidate in the Premier League next season or will it be a case of a second season struggle?

Consolidate. Pulis knows his stuff.

2. I've not seen much of Palace this season (outside of occasional Match of the Day highlights) - Tony Pulis got a reputation for being a bit 'agricultural' at Stoke but how has he had Palace playing since he came to you?

Tight, organized defence and quick on the counter attack. Not agricultural.

3. As it's football's awards season - who are Palace's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year?

Not yet decided. Probably Joel Ward.

4. Who do you see as being Palace's main threats to Liverpool?

Puncheon.

5. What are your best and worst memories of Palace vs Liverpool over the years?

9-0 worst. 4-3 FA Cup Semi best.
6. Chris Armstrong (goals).

Very exciting.
8. If you could take any of Liverpool's players for Palace and dump your worst player onto us, who'd be packing their bags and filling the Bugatti's tank for the trips along the M6?

Suarez for Garvan.

Garvan in a Micra.

9. Finally, predictions for Monday night?

1-1

1. You've made an impressive recovery from a terrible start to the season and already guaranteed your safety - do you think you can consolidate in the Premier League next season or will it be a case of a second season struggle?

Very much so. We had enough wit to use the January window to consolidate on our turnaround in November and December and with shrewd leaders in both the boardroom and the manager's office, I'm quite sure we'll consolidate on our second half improvement this season during the summer window. I look for a solid 9th-14 place finish next year.

2. I've not seen much of Palace this season (outside of occasional Match of the Day highlights) - Tony Pulis got a reputation for being a bit 'agricultural' at Stoke but how has he had Palace playing since he came to you?

Intelligently, given our resources. We defend in numbers and use a couple of highly competent midfield ball winners (Jedinak, Dikgakoi) to break up the opposition's play and spring our two wide men (Bolasie and Puncheon) who then use their considerable speed to counter attack. We are stout at the back to be sure but not agricultural and though we rarely have the possession to attack in waves, when breaking at speed we can be a joy to watch and we cause other teams problems. Net year, I expect to take another step forward and play a similar style but with more possession.

3. As it's football's awards season - who are Palace's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year?

POTY would be Speroni or Jedinak; take your pick. YPOTY would be Ward if you think he's "young" (which is debatable in my book.)

4. Who do you see as being Palace's main threats to Liverpool?

I don't think we threaten in the deliberate manner you suggest, and in the way -- say -- that you rely on Suarez who in turn is clearly your biggest threat. We don't really threaten on an individual level: our main threat is team speed on the counter attack. If I had to name a player, Puncheon for his eye for goal allied to his speed and Bolasie, who until last week appeared to be rounding into form.

5. What are your best and worst memories of Palace vs Liverpool over the years?

Do you really need to ask for either? Clue: same season, about six month's apart. The 2-3 League Cup game in the 70s when Doris put us 1-0 up with a piledriver from 30 yards out before Keegan and co. responded with three is another fond memory of mine.

Well, we lack two things now. A left back, and we produced arguably the best English one of those in history: Kenny Sansom. So he'd be in with a shout. And a goalscorer, and you'd really have to go with Ian Wright there although we've had a few good ones over the years (Trevor Aylott comes to mind. Not.) But even though we have a great keeper, the answer is John Jackson simply because he's the best footballer to ever walk the face of the earth. Late 60s early 70s, in case you were wondering. Some say God...

7. What have you made of Liverpool this season?

Impressive on the pitch. If Brendan Rogers was chocolate, he'd eat himself and I really don't warm to him personally for that reason. But he's a damn good manager. I spent the better part of half a decade in Boston so I am deeply familiar with John Henry, the Red Sox and FSG. When they bought Liverpool I spent a lot of time re-assuring fans of yours in my orbit that they needn't worry; they were in good hands. And so it's proved. Basically, in a perfect world we'd thrash you Monday night but you'd win the league the following week. And if you hadn't folded against Chelsea, it might have happened that way, too!

8. If you could take any of Liverpool's players for Palace and dump your worst player onto us, who'd be packing their bags and filling the Bugatti's tank for the trips along the M6?

One of yours? Let me think...name begins with an "s" and it ain't Sturridge or Skrtel (though to be fair, I'd have the latter's wife.) As for who you can have in return, you'll need a replacement for Suarez so it seems only fair to offer you Aaron Wilbraham. And before you start complaining, a few weeks ago it'd have been Eliot Grandin so things are definitely moving in the right direction for you.

9. Finally, predictions for Monday night?

Hot chocolate before bed, sex if I'm lucky and I get in at a decent hour, and 1-1.

Unlike many I have only ever found Liverpool fans to be to be very welcoming and gracious. I have seen your teams play at Selhurst numerous times between 1970 and 2004 before I moved out to Thailand, seen the FA Cup semi-final and been to Anfield four times - every one a defeat with the 9-0 still in my memory as if it were yesterday.

1. You've made an impressive recovery from a terrible start to the season and already guaranteed your safety - do you think you can consolidate in the Premier League next season or will it be a case of a second season struggle?

I hope we can build a team that will perform much as this one has for the past 26 games. We will constantly have relegation on our mind until we hit 40 points but I think finishing around 9th to 14th is likely.

2. I've not seen much of Palace this season (outside of occasional Match of the Day highlights) - Tony Pulis got a reputation for being a bit 'agricultural' at Stoke but how has he had Palace playing since he came to you?

Pulis has never been with a wealthy fashionable club so he works with what he has. We are not playing the same as Stoke did. Whilst he was always my preferred choice to replace Holloway I have been surprised by how exciting the team can play at times.

3. As it's football's awards season - who are Palace's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year?

POTY: Speroni (Goalkeeper): YPOTY: Ward (Full Back)

4. Who do you see as being Palace's main threats to Liverpool?

He had an off day (as did everyone else albeit quite understandably) against City but if he is up for it then Johnson will face a tough afternoon against Bolasie.

5. What are your best and worst memories of Palace vs Liverpool over the years?

WORST: Actually not the 9-0 (that comes 2nd) but losing 5-0 in the League Cup semi-final where we played ten defenders including Fat Boy Ruddock. BEST: Too easy. FA Cup Semi-Final win. Thanks to all Pool fans who wished us good luck in the final after the game.

Kenny Sansom has always been my favourite Palace player. However, I would have Ian Wright in a heartbeat. He would give us goals.

7. What have you made of Liverpool this season?

Superb. Most entertaining side in the league. Unfortunately I believe you will be pipped for the title. No matter, the improvement from the years of relative obscurity to one of the country's top clubs has been fantastic. Well done.

8. If you could take any of Liverpool's players for Palace and dump your worst player onto us, who'd be packing their bags and filling the Bugatti's tank for the trips along the M6?

OUT: Jimmy Kebe. IN: I will be fair and swap like for like so I will take Raheem Sterling thanks.

9. Finally, predictions for Monday night?

Really depends whether we turn up mentally ready to play our 'in you face game.' If we do I think we can we this. Also if City have beaten Everton I believe the fire may have died a little in your players hearts. However a City draw/loss you will be so up for the game. All things considered I am going to go for a Palace win. 2-1.
